Ngakoue is a better pass-rusher. Clowney is a better run defender.

    Ngakoue easily for this team.

I was all over swapping the 2020 1 for Yannick And the Jags pick to Grab Justin Jefferson. But this right here? I’m all in on this.

I just read he made strides as a run defender last year

He’s a good player, and a second round pick would have been good value if they swung the trade earlier in the offseason and had agreed to a multi year extension as a part of the trade. The issue with doing it now is that the date for him to sign a long term contract has passed, meaning the Jets won’t be able to resign him until after the regular season. There is technically time between the end of the regular season and the start of Free Agency, but it’s negligible.

A second rounder for a 1 year rental is bad business, so I’ll bet you dollars to doughnuts that if the Jets make this trade, it will be a conditional pick, and if a multi year deal is not reached, it will not end up being a second round pick that the Jaguars receive.

He also said we were signing Logan Ryan so you have to take most of what he says with a grain of salt.

It depends upon what it would cost to get Ngakoue, and what the Jets would have to pay him to sign him long term. At this point, I see no sense in trading a draft pick to rent him for one season that may not even happen.

Don't want Clowney even though he's a dynamic player. He just isn't much of a pass rusher, and I wouldn't pay a player that isn't a great pass rusher what he wants.

It's my understanding that the Jets can't negotiate an extension with him.

I'm not trading away a 2nd rounder for a rental, especially one that will be able to demand the world because the Jets were invested

If we can't extend him after acquiring him, then I'm not surrendering a 1 or 2.

They can still tag him and get a deal worked out after the offseason.. it isn’t like you trade for him and lose control and he walks for free.

  12. I was very frustrated to hear that we arent in on the trade. As others have stated, he can still be franchised after this season so a long term extension can be worked out. He's young. He's dynamic. He plays an impact position. He'd fill an absolutely MASSIVE hole that would allow the team to fixate on other needs w .all those picks

Edge & WR. I can't understand how a team, REGARDLESS OF GM....can go basically a decade being completely complacent w. no long term solution at either position.

I don't wanna hear "Next year" anymore. I don't wanna hear JD is different b.c MAC & IDZIK were supposed to be different too. I don't even wanna hear about all the picks we have over the next 2 years. Somewhere within this teams SOP's there is something that says that pass rushers & play makers on the boundary DON'T MATTER.Not even getting my hopes up anymore.

That’s what happened this year and it didn’t go well. I wouldn’t do that. Plus his tag number gets bigger.

Because they didn’t get a deal worked out when he wanted one.

Sounds too familiar. Didn't we just trade a malcontent?

Once I saw Manish's tweet, I instantly ordered my Yannick Ngakoue Jets jersey.

Absolutely spot on. I don’t understand how one franchise can go so long ignoring two of the most important positions on the field and arguably THE two most important in football’s current state (minus QB obviously). It’s a really bad combo of inept management just flat out making the wrong decisions and the fanbase being fine with it while parroting outdated quips about what you should and shouldn’t do to make themselves feel better.

Here’s the answer: whatever you think the Jets should do... ask yourself if they’ve done it in the past. If they have, then they shouldn’t do it.
