This is terrible logic. And to the guy saying Folk intentionally misses the end zone on kickoffs....lol.
and if we had lost by 1 how important would a missed 30 yard kick be then? pretty darned I'd bet... Kickers won't make every kick, its just not possible, no one is automatic, but thats a kick we should hold against Folk for missing. its a chip shot in a playoff game, that we have to come away with points in that situation.
How? Unless you think someone can make every kick, the next thing is to make the really do or die ones. That was an important kick but it didn't decide the game, it barely made a dent in the outcome. You can say that about any missed kick. The difference with the Indy game is he knew lining up for the kick that it was for the game--not could be or would have been, it was and he made it. You always want to make it and get the 3 points, but as bad as it seemed at the moment there was still the whole rest of the game to play. You just said, kickers don't make every kick, so again I'd rather the miss be early from whatever distance than the last play of the game.
So if he kicks terribly, it's OK...as long as we win? Games aren't pre-determined. Are you suggesting he can turn it on and off? Are you suggesting he knew we'd win anyway when he shanked that chip shot? Bottom line is, if it's within 40 yards, I expect a kicker to be automatic. That was a playoff game. That's what he's paid for! I didn't bitch. I made a point. If a guy misses field goals and squeezes through extra points, as a fan, I have a right to be concerned. I didn't say cut him immediately. I just said I get nervous. Big deal. He made 77% of his FGs last year. Quit acting like he's Jesus. I call it like I see it. I love the Jets like everyone else here but I'm not blind. He's an average at best kicker and I have every right to be legitimately worried when he kicks...especially given that he was terrible in Dallas before he came here.
Honestly I love watching a good punter who can place the ball where ever he pleases, especially when he's on the Jets.
