Rambo13 you seem really confused in this thread. You don't hate ND. You say you are a ND hater. You're with "this guy" but he's an ND fan. Cmon man make up your mind.
Seeing as how I've been so, sooo incredibly right about all my other predictions for Notre Dame this year, I figure I'd make a few comments about this one. In the Quinn vs Stanton argument, Stanton, to me, clearly has more upside. Better Arm, better athlete, and at his peak just a better QB than Quinn is. The problem is that his coaching has been a lot worse than what Quinn's received the past year and a half from Weis, which means a lot of work once he gets to the NFL. Another thing, John L. Smith has built himself quite a reputation as a choker, and with the way MSU collapses, I'd be concerned that he passed that mindset of inevitablke failure to his players, whereas Weis excepts to win every game by 40 points. Now, for the actual game, it's ND's to lose. I said itonce, I'll say it again, they are the most volatile team in the country. One week they'll be lights out, the next you'll want to turn the lights at the stadium out so you don't have to see their miserable performance. After that massive egg last week, I'd imagine that they'll be back to form this time, lest they face the wrath of not just Weis, but a whole host of national press about how overrated they were. I don't think that ND can afford that bad of press, because right now that mystique is almost back where it was during the glory years. I'll say ND Wins it, despite a big day by Stanton, 35-24. * Also, expect Weis to run Walker until it hurts as well, because that OL really has a lot to prove to him. If you can't run the ball effectively against MSU, then it does not bode well at all for the reast of the year.
I think ND wins this game due to the fact that they lost their last one big time. Stanton fights and probably won't have as good of stats as Quinn but will still be the better QB at the end of the day. Notre Dame wins and is immediately catapulted into the #2 ranking after reporters claim last week was a fluke and couldnt possibly represent the Notre Dame that they know and love at which point Brady Quinn is handed the heisman for being able to place his team back into national tite consideration.
We are the most popular school, you can't argue that. That doesn't mean we're better than anyone, but we are the most popular. I'm not gloating about it, but it's a simple fact. Accept it. And thanks for the welcome back, guys. I'll keep my tone down this time Mister Moss haha.
Well I'm sad to say that I won't be able to watch this game live tomorrow. I finally see a listing on ABC so I'll be able to Tivo it. Going to my freinds farwell party Sat night and I'm gonna get plastered. What sucks is come Sunday is like 12 hours of me watching NFL. When the hell will I get around to my game?! Why the hell couldn't this game have been at 12pm instead. ****!
I forgot to mention...tomorrow's game is gonna be a blowout in ND's favor. I've got a decent track record with predicting the games so far (except for Michigan haha). I said ND by 3 over GT (off by 1) and by 21 over PSU (off by 3), but I said by 14 over UM (off by 40!!!) so we're just gonna ignore that last one and go with... ND wins by 21 over MSU. Hope I'm right. I don't want to see another close game for the rest of the season. Here's to ND winning tomorrow and USC winning out until we ruin their undefeated season to get into the National Championship somehow (hey, I can dream, can't I?).
Nooooo way, although I will agree about Stanton being the better QB. Regardless, ND has the better team. It's going to take more than a QB to win.
You were ran over by Michigan, MSU has a better offense than Michigan, you couldn't stop us last year, you can't stop mobile QBs, and your potential major advantage which would be the running game has been sad so far this year
We didn't get run over by Michigan. Mike Hart had NOTHING to do with that victory. Most of his yards came from grinding out the clock. The win came from ND turnovers and Henne to Manningham. That's it. If we minimize our turnovers, we win. MSU does NOT have a better offense than Michigan. There's no way you can say that. Michigan's got a better O-line, better receivers, a better RB. All you have on them is your QB, and apparently Henne has figured out how to play football. Also, since when can we not stop mobile QBs. Stanton and Troy Smith? Just because Troy Smith is mobile doesn't mean he beat us with his feet. He did it through the air. We can't stop the pass, which I don't see MSU trying to go deep all too often. I still think ND wins by 21. This will not be a shootout. Our D will shut down your offense that is apparently better than Michigan's somehow. You can't compare last year's offenses, you have to compare this year's, and to be honest, MSU's doesn't match up to UM's.
Hahaha when I meant run over I meant their offense went off on you, just to clarify, and as for better offense MSU is 7th in scoring offense, 3rd in total offense and 5th in rushing offense, while Michigan is 8th in scoring offense and 48th in total offense and 18th in rushing offense, and the only reason why Michigan is that high on the scoring rankings is because your team gave up 47 to them, if you want to say they have a better oline that is understandable since our oline is still fairly young, UM has more hyped WRs, but MSU's WR is a lot more deeper than UM, and while they have a better RB our rushing attack is better than UM. And Henne has and will always be overrated. This isn't an opinion, the stats say it in black and white that MSU offense is superior to UM, and it has been that way for years. And I edit to note that Smith rushed for 66 yards against ND last year
That statement is hypocritical. We don't think we are the best but we are the most popular? Give me a break. Who exactly annointed Notre Dame king of hte world? Furthermore, can someone please explain to me why ND was so high in the rankings this year? Last time I checked they lost 2 regular season games and got their asses handed to them in the bowl game. And what did they gain in the offseason to make them so much better aside from more media attention?
:breakdance: :breakdance: :breakdance: :breakdance: :breakdance: MATT TRANNON WITH THE DUNK (TD PASS)
In no way is that hypocritical. Do yourself a favor and grab yourself a dictionary. The best team isn't always the most popular, and that's the case here. If you don't realize that Notre Dame is the most popular college in the world, you live in a hole. It doesn't mean we're better. (See: definition of "popular") We're not kings of the world nor are we the best football team or the best school, but we ARE the most popular and that can't be argued really.
