This is good enough. I took Ga. Tech and the points. ND'll lose outright some other day.

I think GT just left it all out on the field in the first half. Playing AND coaching. ND is awfully lucky.

Did any of those teams have winning records? Pittsburgh, Tennessee and Purdue were probably the three teams that underachieved the most last year. Not really something you can blame on the Irish because they were supposed to be tough matchups, but nothing to be proud of either.

There is no way Samardzija gets picked in the first round with the WRs this year. I'd rank him no higher than 5th on my draft board.

I think ND did not do anything to impress tonight. Calvin Johnson played well and made me want him on the Jets even more. I also remain mystified in what anyone sees in Brady Quinn. So many of his throws are just lofted up deep and the WR makes a great play on the ball. I'm telling you now, if he was on a different team with not as good of Wide Receivers, this kid would be nothing special. I pity whichever team drafts him and am glad we got Clemens so we won't take him.
McNight and Walker did impress me however. I also continue to question why Reggie Ball has been able to start for so long.

My respect goes out to GT. They have alot of talent, make me feel better if they had a good season of course. :)

They had a good first half but we had a better second half. I'm glad that first game is out of the way.

However I'd like to give a big FUCK YOU to GT fans. You are scum. Why don't you throw some more trash out onto the field you little minor rat trash.

Some of your comments are impossible to respond to. It's just blatent empty hate. I know what kind of team this is.

    1-0

  9. No animosity from this end,Dino, but why are you so defensive about ND? I didn't see any real offensive shots taken at ND in this thread. And as someone who roots for MSU..I recall last year when MSU won against ND, no on really throwing any crazy shots in the direction of ND and you having this exact same reaction.

    Whats the deal?

Johnson can be a better version of Keyshawn Johnson. However, if he rests on his laurels he'll be the next David Terrell. (Terrell also looked stunning in college.)

I remain very undecided on Quinn. I still lean towards the Rick Mirer/Ron Powlus side of things more so than the Joe Theismann/Joe Montana side. Then again, it took me only a few games to determine Mirer and Powlus
would not be good pros. The fact I haven't dismissed Quinn yet, bodes well for him maybe.

Ball is not a very smart QB. He's had some bad moments late in games.

  11. To me, Johnson is a combo of Keyshawn and Herman Moore. I really like what I see from him. I wouldn't make many comparrisons between he and David Terrell. Terrell was certainly a s physical speciman w/ a ton of upside...but I never saw him make the number of plays or take over games like CJ routinely does. He was by far the best player on the field tonight.

Goddamn ND. Calvin Johnson is a friggin badass. They came out of the gate hard, but couldn't keep up the pace. Reggie Ball had a few nice first downs, too.

Made a decent buck betting on college football tonight. Thank you Ohio State, Tennessee, Georgia Tech, and Rutgers.

i dont really know about quinn, weis system could make any above avg arm look great. he does have a pretty strong arm. have to see how the season plays out.

i am a huge ND fan, but i still feel like they have to win on scheme, i dont think they have the depth of talent that OU, texas, OSU, UF, FSU, and Miami etc. maybe in 2 years they will be really something. they have an outside shot this year, but the schedule is brutal.

I'm torn 50/50 right now on whether Brady Quinn can star in the NFL or not.

He'll be fine if: Charlie Weis knows something about QBs that no one else does. He was able to mold a 6th round pick with above average arm strength into a future Hall of Famer, and if he passed on the same knowledge to Quinn then I'd expect very good results.

He'll suck if: The above is not true, and Brady himself was just a true diamond in the rough.

That being said I do not take Brady Quinn #1 next year if I'm anybody, because he seems like a very high risk at this point. Still give me Adrian Peterson, who is a shoe-in superstar if his so-so character doesn't take over.

Because they are my NCAA team. Because of the recent years from the internet Iv'e discovered alot of hatred of Notre Dame cause of 'media hype and blah'. I can't accept blind haters. I was unaware of it untill of few years ago like a bat. Never knew my team had such haters. Been a fan since birth. I'm no average fan.....

And all I can say on MSU is, we got the record. I'll go hard and crazy. Always.

Jeff George is still getting oppertunities for god sake.

He's no Rick Mirer, Ryan Leaf, or Akili Smith busts. Why don't we check our week 1 starts and calm down on the preditions. It's a riot I swear....

In my mind Samardzija is still a first round caliber player (4th in my mind straight up), but Sunday's right that there are a host of factors that could lead to him falling on draft day. The baseball thing is bad enough, but also bring in McKnight's potential, along with the emergence of players like Jason Hill, Ted Ginn, and Limas Sweed, along with the unlikelihood that Samo's workouts will be anything more than solid, and there could be problems.
