My thoughts: Kirk Herbstreit should talk more. Bob Davie should talk less. Calvin Johnson is going to be a great pro. Charlie Weis is getting outcoached by a mile! and, lastly, I don't care if he DID score, that touchdown run by Brady Quinn was stooopid.
More like great surprise call. I was afraid of this earlier today. That first game. And away game too. Ughh. I never thought ND would blow out GT, but I thought we'd play better. I think ND will still win... 10 points or less.
Quinn has no impressed me thus far. He doesnt appear as well prepared and as poised as he did all last season. I also think ND really lacks some pop in their running game and coul really use a bigger RT or a bruising Fullback. As for GT...Anoai is having the game of his life and looks like a 1st day draft pick. Calvin Johnson is the best player on the field tonight by a wide margin.
Weis likes that play (I do, too, although it is risky). It worked against Seattle in 1998. (Never mind the fact the replays showed the ball never crossed the plane of the goal line.)
They're playing a true freshman there, and he's getting pushed around the field. Or, at least he was, before GT's defense started sucking wind.
I'm having another thought: The combination of Raymond McKnight and a $7 million contract with the Cubbies are going to cause Jeff Smaradzija's draft stock to fall out of the first round.
