Clemens & Ratliff will be handing the ball off for the most part....if they can't handle that....then they should be working the hot dog carts during the tailgating parties.

I have confidence in both of them, in regards to running the offense that Rex plans to utilize.

It would be a bad idea to trade up for a QB, but if by chance Sanchez falls down which has happened (Rodgers, Quinn) then why not take the gamble on him. The impact of a DE (Jackson) or WR (Nicks, Harvin) would bring to this team compared to what a franchise QB would bring, you have to take a shot. Not for this year necessarily but for the future of the organization, and he may not turn out to be the answer, but if he does were set for the next 10+ yrs. At some point you need to get yourself a QB why not now.

What you're failing to realize is that the question marks for Sanchez are definitely there.

Look at it this way, if Clemens and Sanchez were in the same draft, we'd be trying to figure out which one is better and to be honest I think Clemens might have won that battle on merit.

So if we're wrong and Clemens and Ratliff suck, then yeah, we could be in for a rough year. But Sanchez is no surefire pick. He could be worse than both of them. The more I think about it, the more I don't want him at #17. I think there's too much risk. I'd like to see what we have in Clemens/Ratliff.

You're proposing that we get Sanchez, which if he fails, then we're in the exact same situation as what you're saying if our plan fails. However, I'd rather take the chance on a guy that's only a couple years removed from being a second round pick and finally has an OLine in front of him to work with. Get him a WR in the 1st or 2nd (personally I want Nicks with that #1 but wouldn't argue with Britt). Now he's got some weapons to work with and is set up for success. Sure, he might fail. But like I said, Sanchez is pretty damn far from a guarantee.

If Tyson Jackson falls to 17 and we take Sanchez, I will be just as devastated.

No draft pick is a guarantee. But that doesn't mean you don't pull the trigger when you have the chance. The upside is there. You have to take the chance. And you know what, I think Rex Ryan is a chance taker. He also, I'm sure, understands the Jets potentially bad QB situation.

And Clemens will get his chance -- in the pre-season. If he does very well, he'll stay. If he does less than average, which is what I predict, he will be gone, and I don't believe any other team will take a chance on him. He is practice squad at best, but I don't think he's any better than Arena, personally. I say give Brad Smith a chance!!! :)

I'm sure Syracuse will be better, but I want a team right in the city, or at least the Metro area. Maybe if Rutgers puts an NY before their name :)

Hey, if people can say that Kellen Clemens, a man who owns the worst QB rating in the league, should be our #1 QB next season, I think it's only right to say that Brad Smith should be made the starter. You can only go up from worst QB in the league :p

Clemens has already shown he can be a preseason all-star. The preseason means nothing. We invested a second round pick in him now it's time to see what we have. The fact that you're so quick to write him off really shows how clueless you are.

Listen, I'm rooting for him, just like I'm rooting for any of the Jets QBs to do well. But I have seen him play, just like you have. And I think he gets easily rattled and makes terrible decisions. In fact, many times he looked like he couldn't make ANY decision. I truly think the NFL is too fast paced for him and he cannot translate from college to the pros.

    Says you.

But if he turns out to be one of the best in the league and we pass on him, you'll be punching yourself with your silly Kellen Clemens rag of a jersey wrapped around your hand :)

What if we dump Clemens and he signs with someone and becomes the second coming of Jesus? WHAT SAY YOU?

Too many what ifs in your argument to make it worth anything.

yeah..well. If I had Adrien Clarke and Anthony Clement blocking for me, I wouldn't expect much success at the QB postion either.

I'm not gonna turn this into a "Why i think Clemens deserves a shot" thread....i just wanna get the point across that Clemens deserves a chance to play behind our revamped Oline.
