Woods probably cost less than our second 2. He wouldn’t be on the top of my list , just a name to watch that could be available. Ridley is the top trade candidate for me. I’d like to push the bulk the compensation into next years draft though. Take less of the gamble out of whatever it is he had/had going on.
Don't really know his situation. But if he's having trouble in ATL he ain't gonna do much better in NJ/NY
This one right here. Packers are $47m over the cap at a time their star WR Davante Adams wants to be made the highest paid WR in the league. LeFleur brothers should already be on the phone for this one. I don't know how much cap JD would be willing to give up, or if he'd be willing to make Adams the highest paid WR, but if we want a true #1 for Zack Wilson, here he is.
We are not signing Adams. You can forget that. He's too old and will want too much money. He would wind up being the only FA we could sign if he signed with us, which he won't. He will want to go to a contender.
Love Wood and Kupp. Seen most every game. Wood would be a great pick for us.Wood demanded tight coverage and opened a lot of opportunities for Kupp till he got hurt. He is quite under rated.
Between the Packers' cap situation and Za'Darius Smith contract/injury history, I can definitely see a scenario where we trade a day 3 pick (and maybe a late conditional 2023) pick. Not sure what his market is going to be, but I can definitely see Rasul Douglas as a Jets target, big corner, who was drafted by Philly when JD was there and a local product as well. I know the Cowboys have a dicey cap situation, but with Gallup coming off a torn ACL and a pending FA, I think they keep Amari Cooper.
Gallup could still be a Jets target if he walks from the Cowboys which I’d guess he does. He would’ve been a perfect fit if he didn’t get hurt.
Adams has the pedigree to be the typical high profile, expensive, Jets FA bust. Ridley would be a harsh reminder that we aren't the solution to mental illness - were the cause.
Agreed, in fact I would not even give up a 3d rounder for Ridley. Mental health issue to the point where you play like shit for a few games then just leave the team is worse than ACL tear. How do we know it won't happen again even if doctors do check it and clear him? Plus he is a free agent after a year - basically a year rental, or requires huge investment. You know what, maybe 5th round pick is worth a gamble. But a second rounder, hell no, much less two of them.
Excellent point about his being a FA next year. Another question is if he's so good, why is Atlanta wanting/willing to trade him? If he's that good, isn't he Matt Ryan's favorite target? If he's not, why would we want him, especially at the cost of two 2nd round picks, and then have to give him a big contract? I wouldn't do it at all. If the Jets were already a playoff team and one player away, then I might give up a 4th or 3rd, but no way I'd give up one 2nd, much less two. The suggestions are getting wilder and wilder.
Why should the LeFleur Bros be on the phone? Mike: is Adams any good? Matt: yeah, he’s pretty good Mike: thanks man, I wasn’t sure.
He’s the 3rd most productive pass catcher on his team, has a huge contract and injury history. I’d offer a 5th at most but even then, that’s less cap space for a RG, TE, DB etc
Cooper has had 1000+ yards in 5 of his 7 seasons in the NFL. Had 865 this year while missing 2 games so could've easily been 6/7. He's also only missed 4 games in his career due to injury so I'm not sure what this injury history is you're referring to. I'm not saying we trade a 1st for him but a 2nd or especially a 3rd seems like good value to me. There's 0 guaranteed money left on his deal it too so you're not really tied to him at all going forward.
