ah, i see. and thanks for the link. still, their #9 and #8(R2) - to me - is worth moving down five spots. essentially then, you can bank on 4 starters out of our first 4 selections. not many teams can say that. cheers
It's an intersting scenario and (assuming the compensation is right) not a bad idea. It would have to be for Cutler, though, as he is the only player worthy of starting a franchise around who can be had outside the top 4.
isnt there some sort of limit on the draft picks you are allowed to stockpile. i think we are flirting with it.
Don't we have enough picks already?? I mean come on we have like 10! Would trading out of the top 5 (a position you happen upon very rarely) really help us out that much? We would be missing out on a true impact player for what? an extra guard or linebacker? No don't trade down, take one of the premier players in the draft. If it is someone who "isn't good enough" to go number 4 I say we take him and say screw you to the pundits. There is too much risk in trading down, and not enough reward. Had we not gotten the extra first, third and fourth round pick, I may have agreed that we should trade back and get some extra bodies. But one of three players will be available for us at a position of extreme need (Leinart at QB, Mario at DE, Brick at OT). I repeat, don't trade back, keep the pick and get the impact player that is only available once every several years.
Remember that Millen is also a massive boob and has no idea what he's doing. Listening to Millen about draft choices is like listening to Gallagher give advice on how to take care of watermelons.
i'de do it for this years first and next years first... maybe throw in a 3rd or 4th rounder to equal it out
