They did not abandon the pass because of the run, they abandoned the pass because Fields sucked and team had no choice but to run and focus solely on the run.

I watched game from beginning and if they had tried to continue to pass they would have lost.

@Cman65 not sure how long you want to keep this thread open, I started it strictly for the game and guys who watched game to comment on it.

    Thanks

Even though I've lived in Colorado for over 20 years, I'm still a cynical NY'er, and I suspect that Fields had his thumb wrapped to give an excuse for his terrible passing today. In any case, I wasn't impressed.

I wish you would have watched game, you probably would have written one of your lengthy posts bashing him, he was not good at all.....:)

He’s not a top pick QB in this years draft, he needs to go back to school and get another year of football under his belt before he’s pro ready.

I'm surprised that Fitzpatrick couldn't come up with a way to stop Sermon. NW has the #6 rushing defense in the nation, so how does anyone gain 330 yards on them?

Keep it open a day or so to discuss the performance....I didn't watch the game, so I'm catching up.

    Fields ???

Unless his arm falls off, he's going #2 no matter what, right ? Can't see him falling lower into the Top 10 or God Forbid late-1st Round.

I missed it too, but watching Clemson and Alabama (Mac Jones) tonight.

Let's keep this thread open for Justin Fields discussion. I see from the stats he didn't have a good game....not familiar with how good NW is.

If there's a good college wrap-up show on cable tonight (NFLN or ESPN or Fox) which calls it HONESTLY....let me/us know.

I want honest discussion of these guys, not "he sucks and is terrible" or making excuses left and right.

Watch the game. Tyical OSU QB. I wouldn't take him unless I already had a good QB ahead of him to let him sit and learn a year or two. Even then, IDK if he's going to be a good starting QB in the NFL.

I encourage you to watch the CBS pregame for Alabama and ESPN.

I’m not going to say he was just terrible, however no discussion can properly relate to you his performance. You needed to watch the game and see for yourself how pedestrian he looked.

    He sucks

a product of a dominant OL and run game

    I wouldn’t draft him

    period

I’ve seen enough in this one game

he is not an NFL QB just like Haskins sucks

he may develop on some team but not for the Jets...

If we get the 2nd pick we are SCREWED

the only reason I’d take him and trade Darnold is the rookie contract, but even then, we may be better off trading the pick and keeping Darnold .... this is exactly what I expected to see...a product of the team around him being dominant.

the only throws he hit were when he had 5 yards of space between him and the OL and the receiver was all alone

    hard pass for me

He should but he won’t because his hype is through the roof and the Jags are dumb enough to take him number 2.. let’s be honest though if we were in that situation we’d be coming out. If somehow he drops in the draft and lands on a team with a vet QB like the Falcons, Indy etc etc and he can sit for a year or two he could be great. Problem is rarely does that happen with first rounders.

He does seem to have a good work ethic and does the work away from the field and weight room, unlike Haskins and Ryan Leaf years ago.
