Nah, the way we pick that doesn't matter. The bigger picture in my eyes is that we went all out as if it was a Super Bowl. Can't fault the players, they are going to play as hard as they can. But you have the coaching staff running Hall out there 35 times, they didn't do that at any other point this season. You have them calling timeout before the half to force a punt - they didn't manage a clock like that at any other time during the season. Saleh finally got angry and got the refs to pick up a flag - he barely did any of that all season. And what did we get out of it? A meaningless win, regardless of our draft situation, that gives the patriots a shot at a franchise quarterback. Five years from now, we can revisit this discussion and have a talk about the bigger picture when the three other teams in the AFC East are exchanging division titles and the Jets are still looking for their guy.
As I said above, the players are going to play hard no matter what. Coaching philosophy is a different story, and since the coach is staying anyway, he could look further than just one game. If you think that hasn't been done before, then cool, you enjoy your win as well.
I don't disagree with anything you've brought up, but that's a different discussion: coaching staff and front office failure. And it was already announced from Woody they running it back in 2024. Love it or hate it. However, im not losing a second of sleep tonight because we beat the Patriots and or worring about who they draft as a result.
Yes, but this (sarcastic) thread was about Jets finally beating the Patriots.......not it's consequences 5 years from now as a result But hey, Darksiders are gonna Dark
Draft position only matters IF you have a competent GM/CS/Scouting Dept. developing the overall draft plan. Jets win, Jets lose, doesn't really matter as the odds of JD picking the right guy are pretty slim going in. Maybe he'll tweak that BPA philosophy this time.
Just to make a point out of pure entertainment, this was a very sarcastic post. If you know the poster, he's pretty pissed about it. Lol
Exactly. Do we really have more confidence in JD at #2 or #3 than we do at #9. He's going to blow the pick no matter where he makes it. Although, there is a part of me that maybe wishes we lost today. Would have loved to see the outcry when Douglas took a defensive lineman at that higher pick we would have gotten instead of an OT or QB.
Yes. That and getting a better pick for ourselves. But they wouldn't be picking Drake Maye without having to trade a lot of assets to do it.
Guys, we know JD sucks at drafting, but he's more likely to hit on a pick at #5/6 than at #10/11. That's the point. Nobody is saying picking 5th or 6th would guarantee us a stud, just that it's more likely. And again, winning this game means NOTHING. Zero. Zilch. Nada. Why make things harder for ourselves than they had to be? Not doing little things right like this is a big reason we've been such losers for so long. Picking 5th or 6th would've also meant a much better opportunity to trade down and get more valuable picks. Sure would be nice given we have no 2nd rounder this year and tons of holes huh?
The good news is that unlike the last time, we won't have to endure getting cursed out by a North Carolinian for telling it like it is.
Trevor Siemian the first Jets starting QB to beat the Pats since Fitzmagic.... that's some depressing shit.
You know what? I'm going to walk this back a bit. I'm still pissed we won this game, but after thinking it over, I don't think I'd be that upset if the Pats got Maye. In fact, I don't think I'd take Maye over Marvin Harrison Jr. or Jayden Daniels (assuming Caleb Williams is gone) even if I couldn't trade down. Why is everyone telling me Maye is so great? What has even done other than making scouts drool? I'm now honestly more scared that the Pats get Daniels.
Meh..we have a top 10 pick and the possibility of Aron Rogers being our QB Fall of 2024 Since he is the secret shot caller for the Jets franchise I have half a hope he has a better eye for talent than Douglas come draft day..does he help us get a successor QB if Zach is gone? Doubt it . But he would be smart to award himself some protection on the the OL ..right? So let’s get this right …Hackett Saleh Douglas . They are all just 3 Stooges for High Priest Aaron And the Promised Land ? Do we get there??I have as much of a clue as Woody the dumb Johnson
Worked out SO WELL for us this year. So which fucked up career altering injury is your money on for Davante? I’m going with “his head gets twisted all the way around so it’s permanently on backwards”
