    We only take a cap hit for bonus monies actually paid to a player. An option or roster bonus that is never actually paid out does not effect the cap at all.

    In this case if D-Rob is cut we'll take an immediate cap hit for all pro-rated bonus money left from previous bonuses paid out. We won't be effected by bonuses that were never paid.

    I can't imagine it was very high. I read somewhere that his replacement, Kris Jenkins, actually scored higher than Pennington.

    I guarantee that he will not be on the roster come Sept. It is just common sense. Everyone in the league knows he is a good 4/3 DE. They just don't want to give up draft picks to get him. Robertson knows that he has a better opportunity for $$ on the free market so he is not going to agree to any deal we try to offer him. And the truth is that the Jets don't want him anyhow. Why would they waste money to 'try' him at DE when they could have tried that for free last year with Pouha taking snaps in the middle. Since they did not see benefit in the DE expirment then, there is no way there going to spend $$ another time to try now.

    Tanny has no choice but to try to bluff people into thinking he may remain on the roster. It is the only chip he has and unfortunately Denver and the Bungles can see this too. If Tanny can get ANYTHING for DRob consider it a major coup

    Why wouldn't other teams be clamoring themselves over a really expensive young DT with arthritis and inconsistent performance his whole career?

    Don't know if this was mentioned already, but on cnnsi.com, under Truth & Rumors, there is speculation that the Panthers might be interested in DRob. At this point, getting almost anything for him would be great (along with the salary dump, of course). However, inasmuch as the Panthers insisted on a 3 and a 5 for Jenkins, it is tough to imagine they would be willing to part with anything higher than a 6 for DRob.

    the thing with DROB is he isnt as much of a bust as everyone makes him out to be. In the 4 - 3 he is a solid player. Not a #4 pick but certainly a top 5 - 15th overall pick. He didnt live up to his rep but he isnt a BUST. Ryan Leaf...Thats a bust.

    DRob just isnt physically capable of playing the 3 - 4 because of his size.

    Knees and all he doesnt miss games and when in the right scheme can make plays.

    this situation really sucks. with the contract we gave jenkins (among others), we desperately need to get robertson's $ off the books. that need, coupled with his knee issues, are going to make it very difficult, if not impossible, to find a team willing to trade a pick for him. if any of us were gm's, we'd simply wait for him to be released right? :shit:

    if we get offered a 5th or 6th, we need to pull the trigger asap.

    Hey, Herman, give the situation some time.

    DRob is a good team mate, believe me.

    He will do the right thing -- especially when the NYJ and he realize that there are no takers for draft picks.

    Rather than wait to let his value drain away, DRob and his agent will renegotiate with the NYJ to become cap friendly.

    Then we can enjoy his play at DE as we should have all along.

    Enough of that NT wishful thinking. Jenkins is here with Pouha.

    Good.

    the only thing i don't like about keeping d-rob, is his contract. i think if we can renegotiate, we would be better off with keeping him. would add good depth, even if the DE experiment does'nt work out.

    I think there still a decent chance Drob gets traded. Obviously the compensation would be minimal. The Jets and Carolina have done some business lately and Carolina does need help at DT. I think he could be traded for a 2009 pick based on playing time. Let's say a #6 that could go to a #4.

    Could we possibly try and trade Drob and our 2nd round pick to Bengals for Chad since he has stated he doesn't want to play there anymore. With him leaving it frees up some money for the Bengals to get Drob with his current contrat and they desperately need interior lineman for there defense.

    for those who were asking earlier D-Rob got a 20 on the wonderlic. not amazing but theres been worse.

    i read a stat that the average score by position has been as such recently

    * Offensive tackle - 26
    * Center - 25
    * Quarterback - 24
    * Guard - 23
    * Tight end - 22
    * Safety - 19
    * Linebacker - 19
    * Cornerback - 18
    * Wide receiver - 17
    * Fullback - 17
    * Halfback - 16

    for some reason DL werent in there.
