the thread is about an observation regarding the lack of offensive turnovers since vick got the starting nod. that has nothing to do with the defense.

take your holier than thou preachy bullshit elsewhere.

Great damn game! Made me happy because we've been getting creamed by the Steelers the past few years.
I'm glad all the Pittsburgh faithful made the trip to Metlife to see their team get their ass kicked. Felt great to be on the other side of it for once.. This win doesn't change much but we can probably start putting our airplanes away.

Vick has been great, no turnovers 2 weeks in a row.. wow makes you wonder why this competition was so skewed towards Geno when Vick clearly looks so much more comfortable starting.
I can see this team going 3-3 the rest of the way. We should be able to split the Miami series, beat Minnesota, then Tennessee. 5-11, 8th pick, and looking like a competitive team the rest of the way would be a lot better then where this train-wreck was heading.

This. So now we may bring back Vick next year and have the rookie sit for a year.

Cant turn back time and say we should've did things differently.

We had to see if Geno was the guy that could lead the team. Its clear he wasnt.

There's no guarantee that if Vick starts from Week 1 that we arent 2-8 right now still. Or that he's even still our QB due to injury or poor play.

At this point though one thing is clear. Vick is an NFL QB. Geno isnt.

That's good enough for me and Im happy to know that come next season a new QB will be leading the team.

The difference between Geno and Vick goes much farther than stats. It's the pure situational awareness that Geno obviously doesn't have. How many times did Geno complete a short pass for 3 yards on 3rd & 9? Notice how Vick always knows where the marker is and at least throws the ball past the marker or near it. Or how about Geno stepping out of bounds several times three yards before the line of scrimmage rather than throwing the ball away for 0 loss.

I can't understand how people can defend Geno anymore at this point and I'm one of the people who was pro starting him to "see what we have." Everyone should see that that's clearly the wrong approach in that simply beating out 34 year old Vick would've been seeing what we have. It's a shame we threw away this season regardless if we weren't going anywhere to see that Geno Smith will be out of the league within two years.

Sometimes a "clean" game is the result of luck. By the way, I was not comparing Geno to Vick or vice versa. I just saw some sloppiness out there I felt was worth mentioning.

    Aren't all turnovers offensive?

You are using unnecessary words, son.

The difference between Geno and Vick is simple: Vick can read the defense and throw a touchdown in the endzone. Geno can't.

We don't know what the situation was at this point. We may never know. It's clear the entire organization wanted Geno to win the QB competition over the summer. How things devolved after that is unclear however by 1-7 I doubt anybody wanted to see more of Geno for evaluation purposes. Who was pushing to keep playing Geno and who was looking at Vick is unclear.

The Jets position on the matter is that Rex decides who plays and who doesn't. I have no problem believing that. Tim Tebow was definitely not Rex's guy and he didn't play much.

Like I said before, we needed to know what we have in Geno. Vick may have fewer turnovers but he hasn't proven he is a starting caliber qb either, and the fact that Rex can't pick his QB for next week shows how desperate our qb situation is.

I think most would agree now that we likely don't have a starting QB caliber on the roster, and it took 12 weeks (including the bye over which I have no idea what anyone did) to realize that.

What's worse now is I don't know if we have enough stability at the position to evaluate our 10mm WR Harvin. What a mess.
