I, for one, support this initiative. I don't care about the "going green" part but the rewards program is pretty solid. As PSL/STH I am happy they instated this program so we can get something out of going to the game on a weekly basis. The poster that's stating, Jets are putting this ahead of winning is an absolutely nutty opinion. You don't think woody/jets players want to win? If you think they talk about rewards/how to save $$ and screw the fans, you're delusional.
I am not a Season Ticket Holder but I support this initiative 100%. But at the same time, Jets need to do something to address the memoriblia ticket stubs for the fans who want them for free. I think folks who go to every game should be rewarded. There should be a difference between folks like me who look for cheap tickets to go to the games and folks who spend face value for all games including preseason games.
This is why I could never be a mod. If I ever read the opinion that going paperless is somehow detracting from the team trying to win, I'd probably ban him as a troll right then and there lol. Jets might be the first, but they definitely wont be the last to do this. I love the idea of a rewards program. I'll only go to a game if I can get them for super cheap, and even then, its kind of a pain in the ass. I have no problem rewarding those who pour money into the team.
It's good that the Jets explained you can still get paper tickets, you just won't use them at the stadium. That's a perfect solution
Oh great now the front office is wasting time on paper tickets! Rex should be worried about the QB situation and Idzik should be thinking about how bad Amaro has been! Not sitting in on meetings about rewards cards and paper tickets! The focus should be football!
I just heard a podcast yesterday where they had the VP of Marketing on explaining the new system. They will sell $3 commemorative tickets that look exactly like the traditional tickets, as if they never started a smart card system, made by the same company, with all the proceeds going to charity. If you can afford season tickets, you can afford another $30/year to get paper tickets for your collection. Everyone else will benefit from faster stadium entry and it's worth the tradeoff.
It's only a matter of time before other teams follow suit. The fact of the matter is it's getting harder and harder to get people to go to games. This reward system is an incentive to keep going to games.
I don't mind the credit card like ticket for me but since I'm usually taking kids with me I just know there will be a lost card or 3 somewhere during the season. The lanyard with the draw string is a stupid idea, you know the string will break and oops your card is gone. I'd prefer if they focused first on concessions so that when I get food for my kids I can get it ALL at the same place rather than run around getting food at multiple locations and missing game time. For adults that don't eat at the game (I usually don't) its not an issue but with anyone with kids its a MAJOR pain in the ass.
Solution: Do not let your kids have their ticket cards; I'll tell you how to do it instead. Keep all of the cards together, with you, and then when you're entering the stadium, give each of your kids their card. Once you get through security, immediately usher them to the side (so others can walk inside) and collect the cards again. This way they have no opportunity to lose the cards. As for food, they'll never just have one general food station that has all the stadium's food offerings in one place again. Name brand companies do not want to share stall space with each other- they want their own separate stall where their signage is prominent. Also, it's not practical to have a burger place, hot dog place, pizza place, deli, and steak place combined in 30 or 40 different spots. More efficient to have distinct places that each do one thing- it helps keep the lines moving and helps keep the food service people operating more quickly when the menus are smaller. The solution to waiting on multiple lines is to either 1) go to a restaurant before the game so they won't have a fierce desire for stadium food, 2) insist that the kids compromise and settle on one place, or 3) get to the stadium earlier so that you have time to wait on 4 lines without missing any game time.
