If anything, this season shows we can put up a fight against any team in the league. A far cry from previous years when you knew we had no shot against certain teams.

Well yeah...FAs cost money But Mike White ?? He's only played 6 games smh...ZW has played 20

After a grand total of 10 games ...even a WC appearance he's not costing Matt Ryan or Carson Wentz type of money

Mike White won't have much of a career if he keeps taking hits like he did against the Bills.

If you do not understand that this team is better and not the SOJ, then maybe you need to find another team to root for. FO, CS, talent is all improved and we have a wining record, less you forget, in December... Oh yea, what did JD say, we need to play meaningful games in dec and we are... the only issue I see is fans that have their perverbial head stuck up their asses.

I've very happy with the season so far - with the exception of how Wilson has played, although I still think he can be a FQB if he gets himself straightened out. Before the first game I thought 4-5 wins for them so 7 is almost double that, but more than the wins is the fact that they've beat some top teams and been in almost every game with a chance to win at the end. And they're playing meaningful games in December!

But there are still some big holes beginning of course with the QB. They need better play from that position whoever it is, including possibly signing or trading for a proven winning QB, or somehow drafting a "can't miss" QB - on this last possibility I don't see this as a realistic option because even if there was such a "unicorn" in this draft it would cost the Jets way too much to trade up to get him. The OL HAS to finally get fixed and stabilized - Becton either has to show before T.C. he can stay healthy and be counted on or traded. They need at least one more stud WR from FA or the draft, and to upgrade the TE group - they were supposed to be a strength and they're mediocre at best. Breece Hall has to return to full health and play like he did before he went out. We could use upgrades at LB and Safety for depth at least. And the CS needs to learn its lessons.

Sounds like we're REALLY close and a virtual lock to get into the playoffs next year, but...things happen. Key guys get hurt; other guys have down years; the schedule is tougher than we thought; new players take time to acclimate to the new system and teammates. Happens every year, even to reliably good teams. I want to remain optimistic but after 60 years I know better. I'm just trying to enjoy this season and not get ahead of things too much.

Matt Flynn played like 2 games for Green Bay and signed a large deal with SEA. AJ Feely in PHI…. Mike White has shown he can be a very competent starter and a top level backup. He’s gonna get some very good offers assuming he finishes strong. His biggest competition will likely be Daniel Jones.

We're literally one player away from winning multiple rings.

We're a lot further than one player away from multiple rings. We have multiple holes on the O-line, for a start.

And as to the premise of the thread, I can't view this season as a success if they don't rally and make the playoffs. The talk from seemingly everyone at the start of the year was that this year was supposed to be about finding out what we have at QB, and it's not going to go down as being particularly successful in that department either. We may get more of an idea as to what we have with Mike White over the last four games, but once the season wraps up, we almost certainly will not have a great deal of clarity as to what we have at the QB position. Can Zach be salvaged? Do we resign Mike White? And if so, for how much, because it only takes one QB desperate team to come in with an offer that we can't match. Do we bring in a veteran to either take the job or compete with Zach and/or Mike White? All questions that are going to be difficult to answer, and in a season where we don't come away with clarity at the one spot we were supposed to be finding clarity, and not making the playoffs to boot, I can't view that as a success.

Who would have thought the Jets would go from 32nd defense to Fourth ranked. The team has made a lot of strides this year and has set us up for the 2023 season. I still feel we have a shot at the playoffs this year but if we don't make the playoffs I feel positive about our team going forward.

Agreed….I did not expect a serious playoff push, but we are playing meaningful games in December which was how JD put it and here we are.

lots to fix still starting with OL…which is sad as that’s supposed to be JDs area of expertise…the Becton injury I don’t give a pass for as that was SO predictable, and we knew Fant was hurt coming into the year, so not much of a pass there, but we did have a lot of injuries on OL including our best player in AVT, as well as Mitchell who did well when pressed into service, Herbig has been pretty good, but Tomlinson has not lived up to his contract….lots of work here.

JD will also have a lot of salary cap choices to make and we don’t have multiple picks this year, so he’ll have to earn it the old fashioned way.

and oh yeah, we need to see if we really do have a QB because Zach ain’t it…we’ll see how White does…he’s looked better than Zach but in the end, you need to put the ball in the end zone and he has struggled with that in the last two games…let’s see how the rest of the year goes…

the arrow is pointing up but we are not there yet…right now we are a fringe playoff team capable of beating almost anybody on a good day but also capable of losing those games…still much work to do but it sure looks promising with this GM and HC

I wouldn't say the season is a success no matter what record the team ends up with- if they wind up 7-10 that means they'll have gone 1-7 down the stretch, which constitutes a collapse.

I wouldn't say a success no matter what. Expectations change as the season goes on. If you told me at the beginning of the season that the Jets win 8 games and Zach gets benched, I probably wouldn't believe you. Once you dig a little deeper, it becomes less clear.

The Jets have an absolutely elite, Superbowl caliber defense. Obviously none of us expected that going into the season, but we're here now. Its tough for me to say that I'd consider it a successful season if the Jets lose out and finish with 7 wins.

I don't think I'd be like furious and calling for heads if the Jets finish with 8 wins, but I certainly wouldn't consider it a successful season.

I think this team goes as the OL goes. OL plays well, the offense plays well. The defense for the most part plays well every week, but better when the offense controls the game.
