…regardless of what you see on MLB.com, or ESPN.com, or Yahoo, the buzz out of los angeles points to Dodgers LHP Hong-Chih Kuo starting in game two of the NLDS at shea stadium, while Gred Maddux will pitch in game three…
with trachsel vs maddux game 3 it's going to be pretty important to get off to a good start in this series. that should create an interesting dynamic at least, dodgers up for a half hour, mets up for 5 minutes.
I like Trax going in a big spot, he has waited his whole career, for this. He got shafted with the Cubbies and this is probably his last chance to pitch in the post season.
just saw that, got hurt in workout today....that would make glavine Gm 1 starter i suppose EDIT: according to ESPN Duque is listed as doubtful
wow, skipping soccer practice huh? pretty crazy bro......whats next? pulling the tags off all your mattresses
How did Maine finish up? I know he had a real nice run of games around mid summer that kept him in the rotation. The last month of the season I was watching the Phillies during the early games, not the Mets.
In yet another twist in a bizarre day, MLB.com is reporting that Dodgers LHP Joe Beimel cut his left hand on some broken glass in his hotel room early Tuesday morning. His status for the post-season roster is now in jeopardy... Beimel had an excellent season as the Dodgers primary left-handed set-up man, with a 2.96 ERA in 62 appearances. He has held left-handed batters to a .234 batting average... The buzz is that Mark Hendrickson or rookie Chad Billingsley would likely take the place of Beimel if he is indeed left off the roster...
He's been OK but pretty much up and down the last 2 months. He's had some good games but he's prone to give up the HR and/or walk people and elevate his pitch count pretty quickly.
El Duque has a tear on his calf, and is off the postseason roster at least for the 1st round, Maine will start today, Oliver Perez, Ring and Tucker are on the roster, hearing this from WFAN. We have to sweep I don't even want to think who is our game 4 starter DiFelice is off the roster
People can (and do) spend all year worrying about who is going to start which game of the playoffs and it often doesn't matter. A game goes 4-4 into the 8th and all the hand-wringing about who pitches which game goes out the window. You just have to play the games. Let's get it on, Baby!! Let's go Blue, let's go Blue!!!!
http://forums.theganggreen.com/showthread.php?t=12678 10:26 AM - News: Maine is Official, as is No El Duque ...posted by Matthew Cerrone... A few moments ago, the Mets officially told reporters the following… John Maine will start today’s game against the Dodgers… Orlando Hernandez will not be on the team’s roster for the NLDS. He has a tear in his calf, and is questionable for the NLSC, as well… Royce Ring and Oliver Perez are on the team’s 25–man roster. Mike DiFelice is not… Tom Glavine will pitch Game Two, while Steve Trachsel will pitch in Game Three… …so there you have it… …now, let’s put all of this behind us and begin focusing our energy on the actual game, which begins in less than six hours…
I'm off to Shea in an hour. I'll report back how the game looked from the uper deck later tonight. LETS GO METS!
I've come up empty for tickets in both lotteries so far, but-- Hopefully, this can be an hors d'oeuvres for Game 1. What was supposed to be a 30-minute spot turned out to be a 2-hour in-studio with Daily News Mets beat reporter Adam Rubin last night. If you get a chance, please give it a listen. We haven't had time to write up the topics discussed yet, but it covers tons and tons of stuff that I think you'll find interesting. The interview is up at http://hosted.filefront.com/patchyfogg Part 1 is 72 commercial-free minutes, and Part 2 is 48 commercial-free minutes. As always, thanks.
