That's it for Trachsel. You could argue he deserved better with the infield hit and flare, but he also has thrown 65 pitches with one out in the 4th. When bad things happen, he always seems to make them worse. Hopefully Oliver is over his horrible stretch from 9/21 - 9/27 (8 runs in 5 1/3 innings).
You're right, I'm used to maybe one or two of these a game from Gary and Keith and here it's coming every time one of them opens their mouths.
Because wins are a crappy stat, Trachsel had crappy numbers, and he got mountains of run support and bullpen help.
He does deserve some credit, but any idiot with half a brain who followed the Mets for any stretch this season would have told you those wins are extremely deceiving. I don't know what are the exact numbers as far as run support is concerned, but I'm betting it's close to tops in the leauge.
I've never seen that before - is it an original? I'll stick with what I said at the time - he got some tough breaks, but as is usually the case, when things start to go bad, he seems much more likely to allow things to get out of hand than to shut them down. I fully support Willie's quick hook (it's interesting how much quicker he has been to pull pitchers in this series than he was during the season).
