I have hated the Cards since the 70's. But Pujols doesnt need to get brushed back. He needs to have that hammy aggravated. Put him on first then stay low to the next two hitters, and make him leg it out. I'd rather see him on the ground by second base clutching that hamstring than at the plate getting pissed. And in the field, when he is on the out field grass, Reyes HAS to push a bunt up the line, past the pitcher. That, and a little patience at the plate. Whith St Louis playing that Beer League softball outfiled grass infield alignment, you need guys on first to open that hole back up.
Eckstein is like that pesky fly that keeps bothering you in the yard. Even watching him play short annoys me. But the announcers love the bastard, but then again who havent they raved about for the Cardinals. I do agree that you put Pujols on first and make him run...You have to do what it takes to win
YA GOTTA believe! But this is a REALLY rough situation. Down 3-2, facing Carpenter in Game 6, and then even if we win, we have no one to pitch Game 7. Darren Oliver? *retches* When you only have two starters, and their names are Tom Glavine and John Maine, you're in serious trouble.
another Management issue. Would it not have been better to go into this series with El Duque on the roster and a prayer in willies heart, than, say Cliff Floyd, knowing that the Pitching is far worse than the hitting, and considering Floyd, currently is half a liability in the field...
Fuck Yeah we can do it! We're home for two games! We're the best team in the league! That crowd better be fucking rocking tonight from well before the first pitch. I want to see the Mets DEMOLISH the cards tonight. I even got my friend whos also a huge Met fan eating turkey tonight. LETS GO METS!
cmon guys, pujols beating a hurt floyd to the bag was classless? or pujols being smart and not flipping the ball to the pitcher when he didnt have to? as far as the announcers go, of course those tow toolbags are in love with the cards, but as a yankee fan, Im immune to that shit because buck and macarver are as anti-yankee as they come....but none of that shit has anything to do with the games...you guys aint done!! Id like to see you lose, but I think you have a very very good shot...of course it will have to be done with the bats....Id say you need 6 runs tonight and 6 tomorrow...tall order? ya. can u do it? sure
I finally had to put the volume down. It's not even so much the Cardinal angle, it's the STFU already angle. I now watch silently....in the dark...alone with my thoughts. LOL I had to do the same thing during the Bears game too. I can't take the MN crew anymore. I figure, if there is a some guy #26 running to the endzone (like on a pick) and I don't know who it is, I'll find out the next day.
the ESPN football crews are among the worst of all time. Joe Theismann is right up there with the stupidest announcers ever.
Oh really? Mets at home during season: 50-31 Cards on Road during the season: 34-47 This one is FAR From over boys! Lets Go Mets
Your Pats sig goes very nicely with you STL avatar, considering Belllichicken was wearing a Cards jersey the other day.
Check this out. Some guy who calls himself "Cardinal_Fan" posted this on NYYFans today. Read if you want to hurl: BULLETIN BREAKING NEWS NEW YORK (AP) -- Fox Sports, in conjunction with Major League Baseball, has announced that the New York Mets will advance to the World Series this weekend no matter what happens in the National League Championship Series. "The Cardinals had a nice little run," said Keith Law Sr., president of Fox Sports, "but everyone knows the Mets are the best team in the National League." Law said studies have shown that the Mets draw better ratings in the critical New York metropolitan market. While the Cardinals do very well in the area described by marketers as "the rest of the stupid country," Law said most television and baseball executives live in New York, "so screw those hoosiers." Stunned Cardinals owners, officials, and fans said they could see this coming. Telltale clues include the excitement in Joe Buck's voice whenever the Mets fouled off a pitch, as well as Tim McCarver's penchant for saying Tom Glavine got ripped off by the umpire on a strike call when Fox's own computer graphic indicated the pitch was three feet outside. "Let's face it," Law said. "The Cardinals don't even deserve to be here. Everyone knows Jeff Weaver sucks. And who would you rather watch -- Jose Reyes running off the field when there are two outs, or some unknown lug named Josh Kinney making hitters look foolish?" Baseball commissioner Bud Selig, whose tenure in office has seen the cancelliation of a World Series and a tie All-Star game, said his palsied hands are tied. "We let TV tell us when to start games, when to play games, and when the pitcher can throw the ball after each 10-minute, between-inning commercial break," he said. "Why shouldn't we let them tell us who can play?" Law said FOX will black out the World Series in the St. Louis market. "We don't want to rub it in," he said. "We're going to show a special report on the Yankees-Red Sox rivalry."
I think the Mets have a good shot. I don't hate the Cards. Some things have been revealed about Pulojs in the series that makes me view him differently going forward. As for Eckstein, he is the classic case of guys you love if they are on your team, but hate if they are not...kinda like Esa Tikkanen. I got to think that with the Cards on the road, Maine can put together one good start out of three in the playoffs. All-in-all, this series isn't all that surprising (with maybe the exception of Weaver) due to the dirth of starting pitching for the Mets. It really hit home when Oliver Perez was being given praise by the announcers for his "great work" after giving up 5 runs in 6 innings or so.
