The Jets are going to take Barkley and this forum is going to instantaneously combust and obliterate half of the known universe.
To further my point: http://www.nfl.com/draft/story/0ap1...-geno-smith-quarterback-class-still-unsettled This guy has Jets implosion written all over him.
It's interesting that two of the QB hungry teams in the top 10 have gotten burned recently with a USC QB. I wonder if that's going to have an effect on the draft? For the record I'm not a huge Geno Smith fan but 71.2% is really impressive. The man threw 518 passes and completed 71.2% of them. Yeah, there were a lot of check downs in there but the guy was smart enough to throw them and complete them. His interception percentage was 1.15% Ah, who'm I kidding? The guy is going to Buffalo at 8 at the latest.
u know - i was thinking about that this morning and i have a strange feeling that just might happen. i am not in favor of it at all but it would make for some epic meltdowns across the board.
Haha. I want this to happen, just to see everyone's reactions. I do think drafting a QB to add the the competition is a good idea even though we already have Sanchez vs Garrard vs Kolb.
Jeff Lurie went to a private workout to see Smith, the last time Lurie attended a private workout was for McNabb. Not that it means much but does he go to the Eagles at 4?
I think Philly would be crazy going after a QB that high. They just resigned Vick and Foles has proved he can be very good with experience as a starter
Chip Kelly. It's all on him. If he wants to go read-option then Foles is not the answer. Vick can be the stopgap guy but Kelly is going to want a mobile accurate QB to build around.
71% completion on over 500 attempts is exactly what this team needs. Throw in the low turnover ratio, and speed to make things happen on broken plays. I'd love Smith at the 9, but no way he will be there based on the QB needing teams, and the reasons i just stated above.
There is no way the Jets will take MB after the MS debacle, and to be honest, where are they putting this QB they are drafting? They currently have MS, DG, TT, and GM, who are they going to cut? there is no way MB or GS are going to beat out MS or DG. The Jets need a player, RB, OL, OLB that can come in immediately and help out, not another project at the #9 pick, they tried that already and he had 2 good seasons. I do like your point about the spontaneous combustion of this forum, we are already at our Flash Point anyway.
Chip Kelly another, Saban and Spurrier at the NFL level, in three years he will go back to the college ranks with his tail between his legs.
If Geno Smith isn't available at 9 (he won't be) they should wait until the 3rd-4th round to draft a QB in this weak class. No reason to pass up superior talent at other positions for QB when its taking a flyer on a guy who is a question mark.
Seriously, the JETS will not draft a QB in the first two rounds of this draft with all the holes they have too fill. This a make or break year for Rex. Geno Smith will obviously be gone before the JETS pick at #9 and is not an option. The mere thought of drafting a QB from USC ever again by the JETS organization would be straight INSANITY unless they were picking #1, need a QB, and he was the unanimous top player.
Whether or not this is actually a make or break year for Rex is irrelevant. Idzik is drafting for the Jets now and going forward. Sent from my ADR6400L using Tapatalk 2
Wait a sec, did the Jets actually sign Kolb, or was that a rumor? I thought I heard it confirmed on ESPN radio, but I could be mixing things up.
geno smith was good in that wild high scoring game mid season----then was so so afterwards mark sanchez can play well with better wr and ol than last year
