    Two quick points.

Sanchez now has NFL wxperience and oroven clutch win ability against Barkleys starting four years in college(by default i might add,) and even going back, in terms of clutch playmaking?

Sanchezs best college game...over 400 yards in the Rose Bowl....

However, the simple point is we have a guy with the right inangibles, and drafting a guy that can pull an Aaron Rodgers or Steve Young and ride pone for a few years might not be a bad thing.

The second point...and this is nitpicky, so I apologize in advance.

You cant Mention Philip Rivers and elite in the same sentence, unless not precedes elite.

Hes probanly the most talented guy to be the Anti Sanchez, eg, coming up small in big spots.

Hes the Marty Schottenheimer of quarterbacks, yes...he will get you 10 each season, and probably a home game.

    And then lose.

Not really. Manning was a known quantity.raised from birth.

And really if you look back over the past decade or so, youll see that sons of former players have panned out pretty well.
Both Manning and Luck are in that category.

    Clay Matthews another.

I would wager that a real investigation to that question, would return that you increase the chance of a successful pick, by 25% if said pick is NFL progeny.

Now if we wait 17 years or so, we could have a half dozen Cromarties in the defensive backfield.

I honestly have no idea what you are saying in your first part... But as you know, I dont think much of Sanchez at this point. Yes he's come up clutch at times, but there's also times (more recent might I add) where he's shit the bed. At this point in his career, those clutch games are few and far between.

I never mentioned rivers and elite in the same sentence. I said he was not elite in any real aspect but his sum made a quality QB (back in 2008-2010 form). I could care less about him not coming up in big spots, that was not part of the discussion.

Sorry, i misread your post. I hate the Rivers hype, its as grotesque as the Sanchz cant succeed hype.

Amd youre right, hes been beyond awful in many spots, but its unfair to use last season in that discussion. (injuries)
Now, the last half of 2011.... No argument against it....

Hopefully we get lucky he grows back, and MM makes him work....

    But hey...its the Jets.

Absolutely, even if we sat him for a few years - we def wouldn't be having his discussion. If he went to school longer, we would be bitching about Josh Freeman instead lol

I don't think he can evade much pressure, but I think he has the ability to throw the football away if he doesn't see anything, if that pressure is coming he's going to throw the football away, I did see that trait in USC, I would think that's part of having some pocket presence, no?

It's really a shame we didn't take the QBs strengths and incorporate it into the playbook. Schottenheimer's strict career-threatening playbook really screwed us. I mean you can either have a player with Pocket Presence like Eli Manning, or someone who can extend a play like Big Ben. Both successful QBs in the NFL.

What about Eli Manning? I would consider him a franchise-savior. I mean granted it took him a while for it to click, but at the end of the day that NFCCG against the Packers back in 2008 or whatever saved a lot of jobs for that Giants FO. Coughlin was going to be gone and maybe even the GM.

Brees has elite footwork and incredible accuracy. Matt Ryan was developed well under the Atlanta Falcons and has 2 #1 wrs working with him. I'm just not a big fan of Andy Dalton at all for some reason - I don't think he's a playoff performer. Rivers well he's a choker. We need someone that can take the limited tools around him, and make it work. I just don't trust the Jets FO to develop a QB at all. They make a lot of bad decisions - that's what scares me the most when drafting QBs.
