Other than Revis, the Jets can't hold a candle to this years Niners defense. They have a pass rush, good safeties, and they hit hard and tackle - something the Jets forgot how to do.
He also made a great point saying if you are out there you are held accountable. Williams screwed up whether he was hurt or not. They also aren't in the playoffs w/o Victor Cruz carrying them the last 2 games and they don't make this run w/o the D playing better than our D ever has. Eli is a major contributor to that team but the love needs to stop, he had a GOOD year where he barely made the playoffs only b/c he played in a weak division. he has played well in postseason(even better than '07) but he's not a great QB.
Everyone seems took be forgetting that the Jets k let tight ends run amok all season. That'd boy the pass rush. .
Right, cuz everyone else excels in blizzard like conditions. Its not like the guy hadn't played in cold weather. Cincy, New England, Pittsburgh. Cmon man.
yeah, pretty much across aside from CB...... LBs and safeties are nasty, as is J. Smith. Singletary may be crazy and not a great head coach, but he deserves credit for building a great defense. hmmmm...........
We wish we were half the team the niners are right now. Better defense, better coaching, more discipline, more passion, better QB (albeit barely).
next year is a new year. A year ago SF and NYG didn't make the playoffs while we were in the title game, things change quickly in this league.
SF had the no. 2 d in the league, the giants d has been mediocre at best. SF had much better starting position the entire second half even though the Giants moved the ball on O much more than the Niners did in the second half. Stop ignoring the reality of this game. It was played on a wet soggy field in the rain and wind. The Giants were consistently pinned in near their own end zone and while the OL was being manhandled and the QB was getting killed they not only didn't turn the ball over but moved the ball enough to stay in the game when they were lossing yardage in the kicking game on every change in possession. The game turned on turnovers and you completely ignore that on the road in the rain and wind with zero running game the Giants didn't turn the ball over even though Eli was getting manhandled all game. He did make a handful of great throws to move the ball enough and got them in the endzone when they got the ball in SF territory and the refs on the field blew the TD on the muff.
I think both teams take a step back next year. Giants starting FP 1st half NY 16 NY 31 NY 31 NY 19 NY 36 2nd half NY 20 NY 7 NY 20 NY 27 NY 20 SF 29 NY 20 NY 26 NY 18 NY 20 NY 36 SF 24 OPnly 4 times all game did they start inside their 20 and only twice in the 2nd half so they weren't consistently pinned near their EZ.
Wrong again. Junc listed the starting field position but lets actually look at the yardage gained on the drives by the teams in the 2nd half. giants 9 yards 49ers 19 yards giants 22 yards 49ers 54 yards(TD) giants 12 yards 49ers 8 yards giants 5 yards 49ers 37 yards giants -5 yards (punt fumble) giants 29 yards(TD) 49ers- 48 yards(FG) giants 7 yards 49ers -7 yards giants -5 yards 49ers 0 yards giants 31 yards 49ers end of regulation giants 14 yards 49ers 9 yards giants 8 yards(punt fumble) Obviously neither team moved the ball well in the 2nd half but the 49ers were clearly better and the Giants offense did absolutely nothing to win a field position battle. As I've said many times the only field position changing play by the offense was the long pass to Bradshaw on the last drive for the Giants in regulation.
If Sanchez got hit like Eli did last weekend we would be blaming everybody else but him for the loss. Sanchez can't hit a wide open seven yard out when it is seventy five degrees and sunny!
Sanchez got hit much more often and much harder in average games in 2011. Stop w/ the excuses, Eli avoided 3 turnovers b/c his team recovered his fumble and 2 DBs collided on 2 other balls that would have been picked.
Eli made the plays necessary to get his team to the Superbowl. Period end of story. If Sanchez would have faced the Niners it would have been worse than when he punked up against the Ravens. Hit him and he folds like a deck of cards.
Sanchez faced a better team in a tougher environment in last years title game and played better than Eli the other day. The Giants defense carried them the other day, Eli played wll but you are acting like he played a spectacular game. He didn't, he was very fortunate to win that game.
He got hit 20 times and sacked six times and threw 2 T/D and for 300 yards against the second best Defense in Football! The Jets Defense has carried Sanchez for the past two years and now that he has to stand up and win games with his talent he is being exposed.
Sanchez played great against Pitt. The Jets trailed 24 to 3. Pitt went into a prevent defense and Sanchez could not get a score from the 1 yard line. But the refs blew the call.
You forgot to mention Holmes scored because Ike Taylor fell down and gave him a free touchdown as well. But we will hear how the mighty Sanchez almost brought us back. The Steelers went into a prevent and let us ground and pound the clock away.
he led 2 scores in the 2nd half/OT- both came after fumbled/muffed punts. He didn't lead one decent drive the entire 2nd half/OT It was 24-0, he got us back to 24-19 and the D blew it. The difference in the 2 games was the refs gave a close call to Pitt and a close call to the Giants. Switch those calls and you have 2 different SB teams.
