I haven't watched any of them play. I am basing it strictly on what I hear from other people. (Sarcasm) I've done "my research". Allen has a big arm. He lacks accuracy and he wildly scrambles around. He also throws risky passes when drifting towards the sideline that will get picked off in the NFL. He makes the easy throws look incredibly difficult. We have seen many prospects in the past like him and there is an incredibly high bust rate. He NEVER dominated a single game in college and never was even the top QB in his conference. I don't like him as a pro prospect. I am also not going to tell other people to "do their research". That is/sounds so petty.
To each their own, but the test my eyes took match up almost perfectly with the stats that say he’s inaccurate and that he had less dropped passes by WRs than any other QB in the top 5 of this class.
Congrats to any of you who's mind hasn't changed six times during all this hype, discussion, debate, rumors, and long wait for the draft. I know I've been all around about who I prefer us to take. Initially it was Allen. Then I was groomed towards Bake Mayfield. Now I'm convincing myself Rosen would be great. BUT I stand by what I thought weeks ago, before the trade-up. It seems to me that bringing back McCown and then signing Bridgewater point to Josh Allen being the choice. It makes sense to me since McCown and Allen are similar physically, and the Jets are preparing themselves for a longer wait by adding Bridgewater. They've hedged their bet since Allen could be slow developing. I will not be shocked or dismayed if our pick is Josh Allen. I think Baker Mayfield, Josh McCown and Teddy Bridgewater is an odd trio with widely varying skills. I also think that once Josh Allen's stock seemed to rise after the combine cause the Jets to trade up to 3.
To Rich Caster! Nightmare scenario! I'll give you a nightmare scenario! Namath to Caster December 11th, 1972 against the Raiders! It's a good thing it was an away game! I might've kicked the guy at Shea hawking peanuts down the stairs! For some reason I still feel like the Jets are gonna pull that one out! So, no, not a nightmare scenario! It was a bona fide nightmare! Many more nightmares to come! I don't believe in re-incarnation, but with my luck, I'll be suited up in a Jets onesie as a newborn on the pediatric floor of Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital a few weeks after I kick the pail! I think the nightmare scenario is the Jets ending up with Mayfield and the Bills, Dolphins, or Pats ending up with Rosen/Allen/Darnold.
Rosen's stock has dropped for good reason. 1. He is known to be a disruption in the locker room. This was stated by many players. 2. Hard to coach and doesn't take responsibility for his mistakes. 3. Has history of concussions and shoulder injuries. 4. A 1%er and does not need football or the money. Could easily be one concussion or injury away from calling it quits. 5. High maintenance and needs to be coddled by coaches and staff. One of these could scare teams away, but he has them all.
He may have the wow factor but does he have the wowie wowie wowie wow factor? Show me the guy that has that and you really have something there.
Josh Allen is the only real nightmare scenario. 1. Has been inaccurate his whole playing career from JV Ball all the way through college, including a disasterous stint of community college ball where he was 49 percent and ranked 57/58 total QBs in the conference. Why would he start becoming accurate at the highest level? Anyone drafting him is looking for him to be an outlier. 2. In his first year at Wyoming he had an All star cast by MWC standards, including a future NFL WR, NFL TE, and a guy at RB who was drafted as well. All of these weapons in his favor going up against drek level defenses and he still put up a disgusting despicable 56 percent...This goes against the point that he had nobody to throw to. 3. This point applies specifically for the Jets and is one Chad Pennington mentioned as well. Josh Allens country boy personality is not fit for the bright lights and crazed fans of New York. He just isn't a fit here.
Read it and weep All this Rosen talk is BS Ben Albright is consistent with his Jets Board and makes a compelling case of insider knowledge. Its Darnold, Mayfield, Allen, Rosen NO CHANCE its Rosen since Jets have pick 3 Better hope Mayfield doesn't go first or the pick will be ALLEN Of all the insiders I have been following on twitter, he's the best. Believe me not happy about it, but its true
Now probably not a big deal, because Mayfield probably not going 1 or 2 So Jets most likely pick Mayfield
No. Just a huge Jets fan who follows tons of NFL/Jets twitter He is really well connected to a lot of teams
Jets draft Allen Jets install new playbook with just two plays. 1. off tackle run. 2. Hail Mary pass.
Jets take nothing but defensive players to build an impregnable D. Who needs offense in an era where you need to put points on the board to win?
reminds me of when I listen to a lot of Mock draft podcasts - the presenters sit on the fence to a ridiculous degree and every possibility that is discussed "yeah, i mean, that could happen" - then when something happens "as called first on this podcast"
