Why do I get the feeling that if he keeps breaking huge plays and helping us win, it's only a matter of time before Chris Berman calls him "We all need somebody to Leon Washington".

I've always called him Neon Leon as well, but this season I've simply referred to him as The Man.

Neon Leon has always been the nickname.

They better lock him up and pay him some bucks.

X Factor is about as gay a nickname as I have ever heard. He already has the nickname that fits him perfectly, no need trying to reinvent the wheel.

    I've stuck to Neon Leon.

I still can't believe we basically got him for Herm Edwards. Jeez.

To be fair, they aren't pretending to sing. They are singing... just really REALLY badly.

Honestly, I only watch that awful programme about once a year and I've never been remotely impressed with anyone on it. Any association with Leon is to be avoided like the plague.

And somebody else said it - nicknames are awful, especially when forced on a player.

I remember a few years ago in training camp, the Jets defenders were coming out with stuff like "Yeah, the linebackers call themselves the FBI and us in the secondary are the Bomb Squad and the line is the Hoover Dam" etc., and then they went out and were absolutely one of the worst defenses in football.

Forget nicknames, forget the Pro Bowl, forget what the pundits say. It's all crap.

I just threw up in my mouth.

    Mr. Santana Moss?

Neon Leon. It works with the FSU pedigree.

I called him Neon Leon, but now I just call him L-Dub. Simple, efficient and effective. Exactly the way he plays.

Does anybody here remember former Jet Leon Johnson #32?

Somebody on XM Sports channel (mistakenly) referred to Leon today as Leon Johnson, who was utilized similarly - punt returner, 3rd down back.

Yep. We were talking about him earlier today in the '98 vs. 08 thread. Very similar in terms of usage, and his career ended too early. Every Jet fan I know loved him, but Washington is 10x the player Johnson was.

that was Dante Hall's nickname a few years ago when he was tearing up returns.

i think we should call him a RB who needs more carries. oh thats what he is.

Of course--he was awesome. Hurt his knee running back kicks--a good all-around player out of NC.

As for LW, I think LW is fine.
