So Cimini says Petty will not be the 2017 opening day starter. Maybe not, but I thought that was what this 4 game trial was going to determine. Has Cimini been talking to Jet brass? If so, I'm with CMan. Better for Petty to be cut and picked up by a team that knows how to develop QB's.
The biggest thing I noticed about Petty in the 49ers game was that he's a scrappy player (Yeah I said it, oh well). He strikes me as a QB who is going to do whatever he possibly can do win the game. He willed this team back into the game. The 2pt conversion, the throw on the run across his body to Anderson, the hit out of bounds and he just got back up and played. Hopefully we can continue to see Petty grow and rally this team. I don't care if we win or lose the next three games, I just want to see improvement from everybody not just Petty.
