well and i'm not condoning drug use BUT the latest studies learn towards drug addictoin as being a disease so there's some wiggle room there. but give it a few years and i'm sure somebody somewhere will say gun toting thugs have a disease and can't control their behavior.
Lions defensive tackle Rogers faces sexual assault allegations By COREY WILLIAMS, Associated Press Writer June 11, 2007 DETROIT (AP) -- A stripper is claiming she was inappropriately touched by Detroit Lions defensive tackle Shaun Rogers. Police and prosecutors are reviewing the claims, Maria Miller, spokeswoman for the Wayne County prosecutor's office, said Monday. The complaint was made to authorities early Friday by the woman, who dances at a club on Detroit's west side. Police have submitted a criminal sexual conduct warrant request to the prosecutor's office, but Miller said charges were not expected to be filed Monday. The Detroit police sex crimes unit also was investigating the complaint. "We're reviewing the reports that we have," Miller said. "We're going to talk to the victim and any relevant witnesses." Miller would not say whether police or her office had spoken to Rogers or if he was at the club when the complaint was made. Team officials are aware of the complaint. "We're gathering information and have no further comment," Lions spokesman Bill Keenist said. An e-mail seeking comment was sent Monday to Rogers and a telephone message seeking comment was left with his agent, Kennard McGuire. Detroit drafted the 6-foot-4, 345-pound Rogers in the second round in 2001 out of Texas. He signed a six-year contract following the 2004 season. Rogers was selected to the Pro Bowl in 2004 and 2005, but last season was marred by his four-game suspension for taking a banned substance to control his weight. Rogers also missed the last four games with a knee injury. He played in only six games, finishing 2006 with a disappointing 36 tackles and two sacks after reaching a career-high 5 1/2 sacks the previous season. NFL commissioner Roger Goodell has used the league's toughened personal-conduct policy to punish players involved in off-field incidents, including Chicago's Tank Johnson, Tennessee's Adam "Pacman" Jones and Cincinnati's Chris Henry. AP Sports Writer Larry Lage contributed to this report. ________________________________________________________- Here's a clue on how to avoid trouble. Keep your dumb ass out of strip clubs! What's with these players and strippers anyway?
As (sometimes) famous millionaires in perfect shape, men like these need to go to strip clubs. They can't pick up women on their own. Why can't you realize that? It's really quite simple and obvious.
Or just take the stripper with you and chop her head off. After all – it’s only a stripper; they have no daddies.
Packers linebacker Barnett arrested for battery June 17, 2007 APPLETON, Wis. (AP) -- Green Bay Packers linebacker Nick Barnett was arrested early Sunday after a disturbance at a nightclub. Police said in a statement that Barnett was taken into custody for battery after allegedly being involved in a physical altercation about 2 a.m. at the Wet. He was taken to Outagamie County Jail in Appleton and released within an hour after posting a $500 cash bond. Barnett appeared for a charity softball event later Sunday, participating in a preliminary game involving Packers players and sponsors. But he left the field before the regular game and didn't return. He was unavailable for comment. In a statement issued after the game, the team said, "We are aware of the incident in Appleton involving Nick Barnett. The Packers organization is going to defer further comment until we have had a chance to speak with Nick and gather more facts." Barnett is in his fifth year with the Packers, who selected him in the first round of the 2003 draft. He's been the starting middle linebacker since his rookie season. The Packers gave Barnett with a six-year, $34.85 million contract extension in April. His arrest comes in the midst of the Packers' organized team activities. The voluntary workouts, which started May 30, resume Monday and end Tuesday. http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news;_y...bYF?slug=ap-packers-barnett&prov=ap&type=lgns ___________________________________________________________ Surprise surprise! It happened at a strip club at 2 am.
Browns rookie Mike Mason arrested in nightclub dispute June 19, 2007 CLEVELAND (AP) -- Cleveland Browns rookie receiver Mike Mason was arrested Sunday after refusing demands from two off-duty police officers to leave a downtown nightclub at closing time. Mason struggled with one of the officers and was shocked with a stun gun, Lt. Thomas Stacho said Monday. The 22-year-old Mason was charged with aggravated disorderly conduct, obstructing official business and resisting arrest -- all misdemeanors. The officers confronted Mason while trying to clear patrons from the club about 2:30 a.m. Sunday. Mason refused orders to put down his drink and leave, and when the officers tried to take the drink, he "apparently slapped one of the officers' arms away" and the two began struggling, Stacho said. Mason appeared in court Monday and later posted bail. He singed with Cleveland as an undrafted free agent in May. Browns spokesman Bill Bonsiewicz said in a statement that the team was aware of Mason's arrest and "takes matters such as these very seriously." http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news;_y...ug=ap-browns-playerarrested&prov=ap&type=lgns
Yup. This idiot just ruined his NFL career before he even got started. It's a shame these young players are lacking common sense.
One problem I see is that the off season is 8 months long and these guys are running round with millions of dollars and nothing to do. Doesn't excuse it, but I think it's a reason. For some reason, this off season has been loaded with shit like this, either that or it's just being reported on much more heavily.
I just can't give them that excuse. On my list of things to do if I ever become a millionaire: 1) Fly to France for breakfast. 2) Fly to Germany for lunch. 3) Fly to Italy for dinner. 4) Visit Japan. 5) Visit Russia. 6) Tour South America. I'm pretty sure I could find ways to spend my time and money, without getting into trouble. The fact is, these kids are douchebags, who are bred to be machines in the college ranks, and then they come into the NFL, get all this money and fame, and they run around like a kid who just finished his third cotton candy. ---------------------- Sadly, Goodell's going to have to consider what he suspends people for, or there will only be like 2 teams worth of players to actually compete. This is sad beyond words.
One word Alio. Maturity. That's what you and I would do because we have a few *ahem* years under our belt. These millionaire kids are lacking guidance. They're getting all this money thrown at them and some can handle it, some can't. You would think, knowing your career in the NFL is about, what, 10-12 year average, they would be socking that money away or investing in the future for life after the NFL. But that's just me.
I agree, I said it doesn't excuse it. But it is probably a contributing factor. Like I said with ARod--under different circumstances--you make enough money, get a suite and have the strippers sent to you. No need for guns, no NY Post fotogs, just a good time with some strippers.
Like all things, these incidents run the gamut from "I'm a moron" to "I have the wrong friends" to "I made a mistake in judgement because I'm a kid." I have to say, however, that (without knowing more details) this one seems to be firmly in the "I'm a moron" camp. This is a guy who graduated from a I-AA school (Tennessee State) after three years at University of North Carolina, had a total of 6 TDs (5 receiving, 1 kickoff return) in his entire college career, and was signed as an undrafted free agent six weeks ago. I'm quite sure that he he got very little money to sign. Cleveland has no reason to keep him now, and no other team has any reason to sign him, either. All because he didn't want to leave a club at closing time?
Obviously he was blind drunk or fairly close to it. Cops would not have stungunned him if they could get cuffs on him. I have a couple of friends who are in the business and they only use the stungun when they've got a drugged out, drunk or psychotic perpetrator to deal with.
Well I think Pac Man just may have bought himself a life suspension after his latest incident. Can the government make it ok to give the death penalty to idiots who don't learn their lesson. Especially rich ones, the again I'm sure Pac Man is gonna find himself dead within the next few years anyway. What an absolute waste of sperm.
Tampa Bay's Cox suspended for four games for drug violation Tue Jul 3, 5:12 PM ET http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20070703/sp_nm/nfl_cox_dc;_ylt=AtA5HslsShARwJKcQlQhCzoLMxIF MIAMI (Reuters) - Torrie Cox of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers was suspended for four games on Tuesday for violating the NFL's substance-abuse policy. Cox can participate in pre-season but will miss the first four games of the regular season. "We are hopeful Torrie Cox can overcome this personal setback," general manager Bruce Allen told the team's official Web site. Cox, a backup cornerback, appeared in all 16 games for Tampa Bay last season, making 30 tackles. In three seasons with the Buccaneers he has 55 tackles and one interception.
Raiders' McNeal Arrested in Carolina Nabbed on 2005 Warrant for Fraud AP Sports http://sports.aol.com/nfl/story/_a/...in-carolina/20070705161309990001?ecid=RSS0001 Posted: 2007-07-05 19:52:25 COLUMBIA, S.C. (July 5)- Oakland Raiders defensive end Bryant McNeal was arrested Thursday on an outstanding warrant following a traffic stop in South Carolina. McNeal, a 27-year-old reserve, was wanted in Florida for selling a Land Rover to a pawn broker for $15,000 when he didn't own it, Clearwater, Fla., police officer Wayne Shelor said. The former Clemson player will remain at the Lexington County jail until Florida authorities make arrangements for his extradition, Lexington County sheriff's spokesman Maj. John Allard said in an e-mail. Allard said McNeal told authorities he did not have an attorney. A warrant for McNeal's arrest was issued in December 2005 on a charge of defrauding a pawn broker, Shelor said. The player also was served an arrest warrant from Richland County for writing a fraudulent $1,500 check to Berger Dental Group, the Lexington County sheriff's department said. McNeal signed with Tampa Bay in December 2004 and was cut before the next season began. He was signed to the Raiders' practice squad last season. "We take matters of this nature very seriously," Oakland spokesman Mike Taylor said Thursday. "But until we have all of the facts, it would be inappropriate to comment or otherwise react."
Broncos' Kenny Peterson Suspended Four Games for Steroids Posted Jul 6th 2007 4:06PM by Michael David Smith Filed under: Broncos, Denver http://sports.aol.com/fanhouse/2007/07/06/broncos-kenny-peterson-suspended-four-games-for-steroids/ Broncos defensive end Kenny Peterson has been given a four-game suspension for a violation of the NFL's steroid policy. Peterson is eligible to go through training camp and the preseason, but he may not practice with the team when the regular season starts or play in any of the first four games. In practice, that means he's suspended without pay for the month of September. Peterson went to Ohio State and spent his first three seasons with the Packers. Last year Green Bay released him in training camp, and he signed in the middle of the 2006 season with Denver, playing three games for the Broncos. Denver used its first two draft picks this year on defensive ends, so there's a good chance Peterson won't make the roster anyway. If the Broncos cut him, he'll have to sign with a new team before he can begin serving his four-game suspension.
