The 2 years b/c it proved one year wasn't a fluke. Eli has been in the league since 2004 and won playoff games in only one of those seasons. I disagree w/ that b/c he had them in the playoffs the next season. Did he get criticized? of course b/c he made a million boneheaded plays sort of like last year but Sanchez has taken way too much criticism b/c he's not a great #s guy. The comp rate is pretty much all off of one game, the Bal game drags down his comp rate.
Oh. my. god. I was so glad to hear someone go off on the media like that. That was priceless and he was SPOT on. But it was extremely intense to actually hear someone actually scream on the media. Guy went off on that dude lol. For anyone who is tired of defending Sanchez: listen to that @ 26. "This guy has been analyzed more than anyone I've ever seen."
The problem I have with the Sanchez scrutiny is people calling him "overrated". I don't know one person, Jets fans included, that rates him as Elite. So how exactly is he overrated? Over-publicized...maybe. Overrated, however, is just silly. Tony Romo and Tim Tebow on the other hand are completely overrated. Tebow, because he's pretty much a cheerleader in a full back's body. Romo, because that entire team was deemed elite despite not doing anything to validate any of that. As far as Eli, people have a very short memory. In fact,I watched the Pats/Giants game @ my house with two die hard Giants fans (barf). They were ready to crucify Eli after that pick. They were clamoring about it being typical of him but then he marches the team down the field. All of a sudden, they're jumping up and down saying "THAT'S why he belongs in the conversation with the greats". In one series, people went from shaking their heads in disgust to suggesting he be on the short list of MVP candidates. Some people are just hypocrtical and band wagoners by nature.
Did anyone else see the full list? http://aol.sportingnews.com/nfl/feed/2011-11/players-poll/story/midseason-player-poll-tim-tebow-voted-most-overrated If I was an NFL player, I'd be honored to be mentioned with half those guys. Suh? Revis? Bart Scott? MJD? Brady? What am I missing here? It sounds like a Pro Bowl line-up to me. And a legit one at that. I think it's like someone else said... there were a lot of emotional votes involved here.
Come on junc, are you saying winning WC and Division playoff games is more significant than winning a Super Bowl? I'll bet 99% of Jet fans would swap Eli's 4 playoff wins with Sanchez's 4 playoff wins.
Eli didnt have 4 playoff wins in his first 2 years in the league. Lets see where Sanchez is at after the next 2 seasons.
Absolutely not but that was a fluke run in 2007, getting to the title game last year proved 2009 wasn't a fluke. It took Eli 4 years to win his first playoff game and now it's been 4 years since his lone season w/ playoff wins. I'd rather have the fluky season(as of now, if Sanchez wins a SB and is consistently winning playoff games every year then I wouldn't trade for Eli's fluke year).
Exactly, this is more of a "sick of hearing about them/jealous of their attention" vote. Way to take it 100% literal to assist with your trolling. The Patriots do, though.
Come on, do you really think David Tyree's helmet having hands and Asante Samuel's chest acting like a springboard is a "fluke"?
Eli was considered an elite buffoon before he got that ring, now the guy is a hero in NY no matter wtf he does. That one ring goes along way. Time to get Marky Mark one.
Eli's postseason stats: 113/193 58.5 completion% 1297 yds 8 tds 7 ints 77.6 Rating 4-3 Record Sanchez' postseason stats: 95/157 60.5 completion% 1155 yds 9 tds 3 ints 94.3 Rating 4-2 Record Not to mention this just after Mark's first two years. If anyone can think back to how awful Eli was his first playoff game in his second year against the Panthers when they were shut out, he only attempted 18 passes. Bottom line is that Mark is on his way up. He deserves respect.
