The safety rules are fine. They need to do that because if they didn’t, the game would’ve been dead within 20 years. The taunting stuff is absolute nonsense. They expand touchdown rules to allow more celebrations a couple years ago and then negate it with subjective taunting calls.
This is what happened to make Corrente throw a back breaking 15 yard flag on taunting when the guy who recorded the sack looked at the opposing sideline too long. This is wild.
To use a football term, "it looked like Corriente initiated contact". It was hard to watch that game and not feel like the refs were biased against the Bears.
Receivers celebrating it at any point grinds my gears. "Well done you did the thing we paid you for (that happens quite a few times a game) on a pass that covered the distance and all you had to do was catch it"
If you don't see something and miss a call that's understandable but calling something that didn't actually happen is careless and destructive. WTF is wrong with these people who claim to have seen something that didn't occur? That's my beef.
It's awful. I wasn't watching any games unless it was the Jets, and what I could stomach of those until I injured my ankle so now I'm a little stuck and Ill watch a game. There's no point in committing to watching a 3-4 hr game where it's decided by awful calls, or one sidedness, by the refs. It's literally almost every game. I watched about half of the hawks at Packers, as the Jets own the hawks pick. The fumble "recovery" by Rodgers and the "interception" of Wilson in the end zone.... It's really impossible not to think there's something else going on as those calls were not only wrong, but blatantly obvious. I hope other fans stop watching extra games, it's ruined the game for me and I barely watch anymore and that'll be the only way it changes.
I saw that when it happened. What is the purpose of that pylon? Was that the 20 yard line or 35? Seems kind of dumb to have a random pylon right in the refs path, and now we see why.
The NFL needs to start looking long and hard at stealing some collegiate officials. Some of those crews in the Big 10 and SEC and all throughout the country do a fantastic job and aren’t overly flag heavy while making sure they call the penalties that are penalties. The current state of officiating is just fucking awful.
Look at the STEELERS getting a call when they need it. Ben says he's done and it's a fukin yellow flag fest to get the dubs.
The officiating is so unbelievably bad and calls are driven by players reputations. It happens with corners, offensive linemen, etc. It’s why from a strictly viewing standpoint, college football has surpassed it for me. It’s not even becoming reality TV anymore. It’s all just one big reality show at this point.
