Supposedly 5 years around 35 million. Roto: http://www.rotoworld.com/player/nfl/4945/player?r=1 Thats a lot for him. He either doesnt want to be a Colt anymore or his agent has brainwashed him into thinking he can get more.
who is a hotter QB FA prospect than Flynn (given that unless you are playing Madden you know Brees will sign a long term contract or get tagged)?
You can certainly make a case that Alex Smith is, while he is most likely a 49er next year, he is coming off a very solid season, and has proven he can play while Flynn has shown that he can play well in 2 games. Teams dont want to make the same mistake that (it looks like) the Cardinals made by giving an unproven a big contract. He has potential for sure, but is very over hyped. If a team feels as though theyre a game manager away from winning or being successful they will certainly fall in love with Smith.
I agree he had a very solid season and would be a good signing but Alex Smith is not really someone that people seem to get excited about though whereas Flynn was getting almost ridiculous ratings. I looked at the first 3 sites after doing a search for nfl free agents 2012 and all 3 had Flynn as a higher rated prospect than Smith (which I dont agree with but is a sign of how peoples minds work "he had better rating in that game than favre & rodgers = he is the best QB ever).
The Packers are reportedly going after Texans C Chris Myers due to issues getting their C Scott Wells signed.
From Rotoworld, According to the Union-Tribune San Diego, team sources have confirmed the Chargers are planning to release LE Luis Castillo. Castillo has three years and roughly $14.2 million remaining on the six-year contract he signed in 2008. He will presumably be cut loose before his $1 million roster bonus comes due next month. The Chargers are reportedly open to re-signing him after he tests the market.
Browns offer Peyton Hillis a 3-year deal. It sounds like the deal is around $10M with little in guarantees and high in incentives.
Saints and Drew Brees are still 'a ways apart' but there are no doubts that they will get a deal done. But if they don't get a deal done by Monday the Saints will have to use the Franchise tag on him which may cause some issues with getting Colston or Nicks signed.
Looks like the Raiders are $22 million or maybe more over the cap right now, which means somebody has to be cut eventually. Any possibilities there? http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2012/02/28/raiders-have-to-dump-plenty-of-salary/

Wow, The raiders cut Routt, but despite saving 5 mill in actual money, are on the hook for 10 mill in dead cap space this year. Not exactly a great way to start of the post Al Davis era. Reposrts are the Wimbley is refusing any type of restructure to help them out. Things are looking ugly in Oakland.
Chad Henne getting some looks... Henne expects to land a deal between $4-5 million, which is more than a traditional backup usually gets. Marvez writes that the Jets are considered a “strong contender” to land Henne. Seattle, Kansas City, and Denver are mentioned as other possible fits. Here is Rosenthal from PFT's opinion. We think Henne could find some success in the right situation. Given a choice between him and Mark Sanchez, I’d take Henne. With that said, I don’t think Henne is worth more than Orton or Campbell. If the Jets really want a veteran not named Manning to push Sanchez, there’s no need to overpay.
