Well, I've been against the Jets going to the 3-4 for a while, but thats neither here nor there. Perhaps we shouldn't address NT in the draft and rather do so in free agency and then take a young kid in a mid-round who can learn. Instead we should focus (as I said we should do so with Levi Brown this past year) on offensive line. We obviously need a LG. We also need a really tall WR. The Jets have a good WR squad but they're not very tall shy of JMac and we all know he's not exactly reliable.

So I think if we want Chad to be explosive we need to surround him with tall guys that can make the play and the offensive line that can give him the time to do so. The defensive line needs to be upgraded and I think it should be done so through veterans. The OLine is still young and can grow together.

I agree that more teams are playing a 3-4, but the weak part of our D is our line, and all 3 of the pats Dlinemen were first round picks.

    Seymour - 2001 pick 6
    Wilfork - 2004 pick 24
    Warren - 2003 pick 13

Not only were they first round picks but 2/3 were very high first round picks. 3 out of 4 years they drafted Dlinemen in the first round, because it is the most important part of the defense.

We badly need a legit 3-4 end (6'5 - 6'6 300lbs) to hold up the line. Ellis is okay, but he is far from being an ideal fit at this point. He was a prototypical 3-4 end like 7 years ago, the league has evolved and he'll be okay with someone good across from him, but even he isnt an ideal size to match up against the larger OTs.

NT is also looking to be a need, because robertson is more concerned about stunting and not as concerned about taking up blockers. He might prove himself later in the season, but I honestly don't think he is thick enough or stout enough to be able to hold down our NT position. And any talk of Glen Dorsey doesn't make sense because he is a spitting image of robertson. Id prefer a larger NT whos stout (and likely short), think 6'1 315.

Our boy Quentin Groves went down tonight in Auburn's upset over Florida. I believe it was his knee and he watched the final minutes/quarters on crutches from the sidelines.

Yeah, I heard it was his foot too, but from the sound of things (pain in toes, they had to cut off his shoe), it sounds like he has something wrong with his achilles.

Where do you guys honestly see the jets finishing and therefore drafting?

I think this is like a 7-9 team. prolly picking low teens.

The unfortunate thing is that I honestly don't know how good of a guess that it. This team could finish 4-12(2005) and I wouldn't be suprised, or we could push for like 9 wins. I think a lot will be shown this week against a pretty evenly matched giants team.

    Awesome avatar.

And this will be my favorite thread for the rest of the season. If Mangini's coaching strategy continues we will definitely be picking in the Top 3.

I do not believe we will have a legitimate shot at having a top 3 pick. I don't think our team is that bad and historically you have to have a pretty horrible team to pick in the top 3. Think about Oakland last year, Houston before that, etc.

Also, the other teams in the top 5 right now are New Orleans, St. Louis, Miami and Atlanta. 3 of those teams currently have no reliable starter at Quarterback. I don't think Atlanta has the spirit to pass us in record, I don't think St. Louis has the health to pass us and I don't think Miami has the ability to pass us. So that is 3 teams already ahead of us in the draft.

The other 5 teams in the top 10 are Cincy, Buffalo, Minny, Philly and San Fran. I think Cincy and Philly easily surpass our record as they have too much talent. I think Buffalo has a legitimate shot to be worse than us especially given their schedule is comparable to ours. I think Minny and San Fran are toss ups depending on what happens to them at QB.

So to me you have 5 teams with a legitimate shot at being worse than us at this point in time (injuries or streaks can change everything week to week): Miami, St. Louis, Atlanta, Buffalo, and either Minnesota or San Francisco. But here is the kicker, our strength of schedule, while average now, should continue to increase as the season goes on and thus, if we are in a tie with any of those 5 teams, we have a good chance of losing it due to our superior strength of schedule.

I think the Saints would love someone in either the secondary or offensive line. Not sure about Brees' contract, but maybe a quarterback too.

Dallas and New England are en route to 14-win seaons, currently at 5-0. And both teams miraculously own first-round picks from San Fran and Cleveland. Credit their GM's. These teams could net top-10 picks and play in the Super Bowl. Amazing!

Thanks for reminding me, I completely forgot that I hadn't posted it yet.

As you can see, we are now in the top 3 :)

Dude what are you talking about ? Dorsey is 6'2 and barely 300 LBS, might not even be 300. he's much smaller then D-Rob we need a big big guy at NT like 325 , Drafting Dorsey would be like having a D-Rob except 25 pounds lighter lol makes no sense.
