something must have happened with Patrick for him to fall into the 5th. He has more talent than any of the TEs picked already other than Olsen. With that said highly unlikely he makes it to the 6th.
Hes the 2nd best TE. He can block, catch, has a great attitude and will only get better. The lone real knock you can have on him is the division and school he played in. But honestly, what can he do about that?
Ben Patrick SI Grade 3.59 Position: TE Class: Sr School: Delaware Conference: Atlantic Ten Ht., Wt.: 6-3, 268 40 Time: 4.85 BIOGRAPHY: All-American and All-Conference selection as a senior after career-best numbers of 64/639/6. Spent his first three seasons at Duke, where he started as a sophomore and junior. POSITIVES: Athletic pass-catching tight end with soft hands. Quickly releases into routes, lays out for the errant throw and makes the difficult reception with defenders draped on him. Uses his frame to protect the pass and offers the quarterback a nice target. NEGATIVES: Possesses just average playing speed and is not a tight end who breaks it down the seam. Marginal strength at the point of attack and rarely gets movement from run blocks. ANALYSIS: After solid production at Duke, Patrick had a breakout campaign last season on a small-school level. Best suited as a move tight end, and offers potential as a No. 2 player at his position
At least he has better manners, when his father introduced me to him he called me "sir". I saw him play basketball and he's extremely coordinated with great hands, his hands are as big as sofa pillows, I have no idea how he can drop a ball with those hands. I can't believe how small he looks on TV, (like most of the guys you meet, they're monsters in person, just shows you how freakish the NFL is). He'll be solid, it won't take much to be as "great" as Shockey.
BIOGRAPHY: Two-year starter who came to college as a defensive tackle. Suspended in .05 after breaking the jaw of his teammate during a fight. POSITIVES: Solid small-area blocker with good strength at the point. Explosive, jolts defenders and gets movement from run blocks. Plays with a wide base and easily anchors at the point. Solid position blocker who seals defenders from the action. NEGATIVES: Lacks adjustment and beaten by athletic opponents. Over-extends into blocks and is not effective on the move. ANALYSIS: After missing a year due to a suspension, Nwaneri made a successful return to the field last year. Consistent in all areas of the game and could start at the next level for a team that keeps his area responsibilities to a minimum. PROJECTION: Middle Seventh
The FO must be really happy with our depth to have made the trades they have done, look at whats gone in round 4 and whats left that may not be there in 6.
