Hi Santonio, I didn't know you read TGG. So what other team would you like to play for after we cut you?

Personally I hope we keep him but at a radically reduced Rate. We have too many positions to fill to be hunting around for high priced Free Agents or Drafts that may or may not pan out.

I would like to see Holmes drop his contract to below 4m a season and stay on a as a Number 2 receiver which i think he would work well out of. Kerley as the number 3 slot receiver and Hill as the 4. Then try to add a stud for the number 1 position and a talented Tight end along with some Line talent and maybe this offence can start to move.

    Haha sorry.

Hopefully with more cap room and more draft picks they actually address the offense this year.

I think you have to go with a vet QB if you do this. Holmes is really tough on young QB's. The whole "give me the ball" thing is a bad influence on a young guy who is not well grounded. If Holmes was a better receiver it would be ok but he's not that good. He's coverable one on one by a good CB. That makes balls chucked up in his vicinity a real risk. They'll happen anyway though if a young guy is out there.

I agree. I think that in 2011 he just got fed up with the line not allowing anything and said what everybody had in their mind. Other than that one incident, he's never said anything or done anything wrong, that I can remember.

Plus he hates the media just as much as we do.

its pretty funny actually. as much as jet fans claim to hate the media they seem to side with their bullshit more than any reality...

the milk carton status of stephen hill this year (forget the injuries) may force the jets hand here and actually offer him a reduced rate.

if hill had been more consistent and better on the field, it would have been c ya to holmes.

Why settle for one when we can have both for cheap? I still expect us to grab a receiver in FA, and also draft another.. or two. It's never a bad thing to have good receivers to back up your starters. Would of been great this year.

i think the overall negative holmes effect would have made the jets usher him out the door and not even bother to making a reduced offer.

no doubt receiver will be in play this offseason - more than likely via the draft on day 1 or 2.

I'm not sure he can command much more than a minimum deal with some incentives on the open market. If he's willing to reduce his salary to the minumum, and defer his roster bonus until the start of the season, maybe it's worth keeping around. Otherwise, it's best to just cut ties & bring in somebody younger with some potential to grow and improve with whatever young QB is on the field for us going forward.

Holmes is trash. He will rape no one. When have you ever seen him break a tackle?

My favorite part of this off season is parting ways with this no heart, piece of garbage.

Lol, Holmes is not trash. He's not a #1 receiver, but he's definitely talented. He pretty much took money over having a great career, but you can't really blame him.

Who cares? Cut him and his hurt vagina. He sucks. Let some other team give him a pay cut. He can't be depended upon in any way.

IMO if Holmes stays (the same goes for Sanchez), the circus continues. If the Jets truly want to change their image with the rest of the NFL, the fans and the media, they have to move on from the players that have been a big part of the circus during the last 2-3 years.

IMO Holmes offers nothing. He knows he won't have to work hard here and can basically get paid for sitting on his ass. He knows on the open market all he's like to get is the vet minimum, and figured he could look like he was trying to help the team, but actually trying to get more money from the Jets than he could from another team. He isn't dependable to stay healthy or to produce any more. He doesn't come back for the ball or fight for it. Eff him.

    "anything for the team"

This may be the funniest thing I've ever heard an athlete ever say. Take out the trash Idzik and get rid of this dope smoking fool.

Classic Santonio maneuver. He realizes he's got zero chance of being on the roster next year unless he takes a massive pay cut. If healthy next season I could see him trying to be a good soldier, then bitching about how little he's getting paid if his production elevates. And the carousel starts again.

I said it at the time, he was worth the gamble, but make no mistake, the Steelers gladly took a 5th round draft pick for a former SB MVP approaching his prime. They're not that stupid, nobody should be surprised that he's been a disaster once the ink dried on his contract...

Holmes can stay if he restructures for vet mins or so. Suck has to go though. Certainly no need to keep the worst QB in the NFL around and that status was achieved with two shoulders vs his current one. Adios is in order

Normally I hate swallowing the dead money on a contract since you also have to find a replacement but Holmes' will only count 2.5MIL against the cap next year if he is released which is not too outlandish. I don't think he's worth the headache for an aging wideout who isn't part of the long term future here. Veterans minimum for him next season would be 855K. I'd say see you. Take a hike.

If you are a Jets fan you can absolutely blame him. haha fucking funny how Jets fans would want that kind of player back on the team. I look over at Cotchery who is probably making next to nothing as a receiver in the NFL and the guy has close to 10tds and way more yards and catches than Holmes.

Sure-sure Big ben is much better Qb, Holmes is hampered by injuries and a lousy QB. Holmes, has the heart to play like champion
