Does he have an arm like a cannon?

Does he know the game is his to win? Just like in life, all of his successes depend on him; If he’s the man who has the ball, If he’s the man who can throw it faster than fuck; That would make him better than everyone in the world.

Kiss his ass and suck his dick, everyone.

In hindsight I badly wanted Joe Flacco, but he became highly touted at the last minute. And then there was Vernon Gholston at #4 and maybe we had no trading partners to move down, I don't know. In retrospect, Flacco would have been a better pcik than Gholston, but you don't know that at the time and I certainly hope that Gholston steps up big time under Rex Ryan and proves me woefully wrong.

But this whole QB thing has been going on for so damned long it isn't even funny. Truth be known, many (including myself) were pounding the table for a franchise QB as far back as the Jay Cutler draft.

It had become painfully obvious that Pennington was not going to be our QB of the future and then we f*cked around bringing in Jay Fiedler and drafted Clemens and then the Favre fiasco a year ago and these were all Band Aids... all of these moves, the worst of which was hoping against hope that all of Pennington's intangibles (his smarts, ball control, game management, leadership, work ethic) were all going to be enough to make up for his inability to throw the freakin' ball down the field.

We all know how that story played out, but my point is, this freaking QB fiasco has been playing out forever now... AND WE ARE STILL NO CLOSER TO HAVING A FRANCHISE QB ON THE ROSTER THAN WE WERE 3 YEARS AGO!

So yeah, maybe if Tanny/Ryan think they can do something with Freeman, maybe it's worth a shot. As Kurt rightfully says, sometimes you have to go thru several prospects before finding the right one. I suppose if you sling enough shit against the barn door, some of it will eventually stick. It's just that I've become so freakin' frustrated over this long-time problem that I somtimes find myself resolved to just saying, "Screw it. Play Clemens and Ratliff and hope like hell either one works out."

I know that's not good draft technique though... hoping an unproven QB works out. Still, there's the need at WR also, which keeps haunting me. I suppose it's possible to draft Freeman and still pick up a very good WR in one of the earlier rounds. I disagree with those who don't see that position as a position of need. I see the one glaring need on offense to be that position (WR), because I truly feel one good on will break out and explode this entire offense. A very good wideout will totally change the way a defense has to try to stop us, if they'd be able to stop us at all. Maybe just slow us down.

^ Count me as one of the posters that was pounding the table for a QB in 06. I did want Leinart first but thought he would be gone at 3 and wanted Cutler at 4, so shows how much I know. Although I was one of the few last year that really wanted Ryan so i guess I made up for being wrong about Leinart.

BTW Gil Brandt who is probably the best scout ever and whose opinion I would trust over any of the other so called experts out there has Freeman in his top 10 prospects in this draft. He also thinks the Jets should draft him if he is available. Good enough for me.

Jets do need a franchise qb. Havent had one in 41 years. Raiders have one in jamarcus russell and he'll prove all the haters wrong once we win 10 games next yr to go along witha superbowl victory.

I hope the Jets take him as well. It's really a no-brainer, actually. We don't have a guy who I have any confidence in.

You're going to win 10 games next year and then go on to win the SB?

Have you considered forwarding this material on to the writers of Saturday Night Live? It's hilarious!

Well, that shows how much any of us know. And it also shows that maybe Kurt is right about drafting Freeman at 17-ish. Put enough horses in the stable and eventually one might win the triple crown.

Even if Clemens and/or Ratliff do very well as QB, Freeman is still two years away from starting. If all three turn out to be real winners, so much the better... you've got trade bait.

I still say Clemens or Ratliff will get the job done this year behind this O-line and running attack. Just get me one, good, physical, TO/Moss-type wideout
and it's going to change the dynamics of this entire offense and blow our game wide open.

Actually, while I did not inspect ultra closely, a close examination by a mod would probably buy a ticket for a bit of a TGG vacation, if you know what I mean.

Tampa is the probable destination for Leftwich (thank god its not us), so who knows if they'll trade up.

^ They already signed him, but I don't think that would stop them from drafting a QB ...

  14. I don't wanna gush too much about Freeman b/c he certainly has questions surrounding him..but I have a VERY good feeling about him. The physical tools he has to work w/,combined w/ what he got accomplished in college despite the talent(or lackof) around him..was VERY impressive.Additionally I don't put too much stock in interviews w/ the media, but I heard back-to-back-to-back radio interviews on sirius w/ the "Big 3" QB's...and I came away extremely impressed w/ the way Freeman carries himself, the confidence he displays and he seems to have a certain "Charisma" about him.

Overall I love his upside and think he could end up being special.

    Kurt,

It doesn't look good for me at TC this year. If it's in upstate NY, I'm not going to make that drive. Hofstra was bad enough. Maybe it'll be closer for you as the crow flies though.

Damned shame, because I was really looking forward to going to the new facility and hanging out with you and some of the other guys. Totally ridiculous situation... brand new practice facility with no bleachers, no facilities for the fans and no dorms. WTF?

As a season ticketholder all these years, I expected the Jets to send me a letter inviting me to tour the facility and attend TC. I just can't believe this franchise is screwing it's loyal fans this way.

  16. I'm really upset about it myself. I was really excited about seeing a brand new facility and hopefully a more pleasant fan experience AT tc...not mention seeing you and John!

I dunno if i'll make the trip upstate this year myself. I have a wedding/honeymoon and my fav. band is going on tour this fall...so if anything next year I'll likely take a week off and by than perhaps theyll have some bleachers in Jersey!

As it stands they have Griese, Leftwich, Josh Johson, and McCown. You may be right, but I find it highly unlikely they'll trade up to grab another QB, even after releasing one of the 4.

I was going to ask you about that, but decided this isn't the right forum. I remember you guys were engaged last year! Good luck to you both and say hello to your future bride for me! She's a great girl for you (I mean, after all, she wears green and white, so how bad can she be)? LOL

My wife is also a Jets fan, thank God. I don't know how I'd live with somebody if they were a Patriots fan, for example. "Uh honey... I decided this isn't going to work out....." LOL

No, everyone seems to forget that they have a fantastic developmental prospect in Josh Johnson already. Leftwich was a good fit for them, and JJ will be their QB of the future.

I would not have any problem with Freeman. He has a ton of talent, great arm. He would need some time to sit and would not be an immediate solution, but he reminds me a lot of Flacco.
