I totally agree with you on the background leaving some doors open.

However, he was recruited to play a role in that run heavy offense. He knew that coming in the door. That's not a role a great receiver would have accepted. And after you take that into account you have to remember that if he really was anything special he would have gotten more throws in the offense.

Demaryius Thomas played in the same offense but was recruited as a receiver by the previous coach. He was actually a good WR recruited to play in an offense that passed a lot off of the option. He got more looks by quite a bit than Hill did before he left.

It's not a wonderful thing to realize by any means but Stephen Hill was a great athlete who was recruited to block and run endless wind sprints in the game to take his man out of the play. He was not recruited to be a big game-breaking receiver. He got just enough looks that his man couldn't ignore him when he ran down field.

    It is what it is.

We may get lucky and his excellent athleticism may allow him to become a decent receiver but he clearly is not at that level now and will not naturally move to that level with more time in the NFL. He's likely a salvage case, and if the Jets really want to salvage him they're going to have to put a lot of effort into the process.

I'm not sure for what role the guy was recruited for to play in college is the best way of evaluating a player's pro potential. And for the record, they were both 3 start recruits.

So if we draft Austin, is he our #1, 2 or slot and what happens to Kerley?

Look I like Tavon Austin. But people cant talk about how much a luxury Revis is/was and then say to draft a slot receiver who has almost zero red zone upside. Especially for a team without a real QB

I could live with those first 4 picks (Id actually be pretty happy). Love Austin and Escobar. Like Manuel, but would rather have traded up for Geno in this scenario. I could be okay with Mingo in this scenario.

Get Tavon Austin, just get him, the mans a monster.

At this point I hope we get Tavon at the #9, and then when the #13 comes we make the decision on a defensive player or Geno Smith.
