    (1) What was your first impression of the hiring of Eric Mangini as head coach, and the promotion of Mike Tannenbaum as General Manager?
I believe it is the right step forward for the organization promoting youth and a blue collar coach who has learned from the best.

    (2) Who are you hoping the Jets pick in the 2006 Draft?
I hope the Jets draft D'Brick and LenDale White because there is nothing more important than the offense line and LenDale is going to play with a chip on his shoulder with something to prove.

    (3) The 2006 season will be a success if. . . .
A foundation is established for the franchise where respect is once again given to the Jets. Mangini is able to control the team, get them to play hard and smart together as a unit.

    (4) How long do you give the Mangini/Tannenbaum administration to succeed?
I give them as long as the players play hard and respectable.

    1) What was your first impression of the hiring of Eric Mangini as head coach, and the promotion of Mike Tannenbaum as General Manager?
I liked the hire of Mangini. Even though I don't like the Patriots, having someone from a winning system in the fold can't be a bad thing. And Tannenbaum, I think will be a little more effective than Bradway was with player personnel.

    2) Who are you hoping the Jets pick in the 2006 Draft?I guess I'm late on this question, but I was hoping they'd take Leinart or Ferguson. The only way I would have wanted Bush is if the asking price was no more than two high round picks (see third round or earlier). As much as some people, my non-Jet fan friends included, hated that the Jets didn't take Leinart or LenDale White, I can't hate on what the Jets did. Solid draft.

    3) The 2006 season will be a success if. . . .The line holds up and Curtis Martin can put together one more year of about 800-1,000 yards. Getting Ferguson and Mangold is a big boost. I'm not as worried about the defense (except the D-line), but the offense has got to give Pennington/Ramsey time to be productive.

    4) How long do you give the Mangini/Tannenbaum administration to succeed?I'll give them about four years and then we'd better see some playoff appearances. The Jets have a lot of work to do and things can't transform overnight. I know you can't use the dreaded "R" word in New York (that's rebuilding), but this team needs to be overhauled. Too many questions for us to be short of patience. Even though we've been through enough losing, sometimes you have to get knocked down to get up.

I've been on this board since 2002 and as you can see by my less than 700 posts, I still "LURK" and listen.

    1) What was your first impression of the hiring of Eric Mangini as head coach, and the promotion of Mike Tannenbaum as General Manager?
I like the HC hiring. I would used one of our Coordinators instead but I'm OK with EM. And ANYONE over Bradway.

    2) Who are you hoping the Jets pick in the 2006 Draft? I got my guys in Ferguson and Mangold. I couldn't be more thrilled.

    3) The 2006 season will be a success if. . . .Our "skill" guys don't get knocked out for the season anymore.

    4) How long do you give the Mangini/Tannenbaum administration to succeed?3 years and 1 or 2 playoff appearances. Do that and they can stay.

I have been following Gang Green for a while, but I just recently decided to join because of the draft.

    (1) What was your first impression of the hiring of Eric Mangini as head coach, and the promotion of Mike Tannenbaum as General Manager?

I think Tannenbaum was the right choice, Bradaway had many chances to get this team on track for the future but he failed. I don't know if Tannenbaum is better, but he is a change and when you go 4-12 YOU NEED A CHANGE.
Mangini was a question mark, being a relatively new guy and coming to NY, I felt Mangini would crash under the pressure. Everyone knows that coaching(or playing) in New York is very difficult due to the media and attention to sports. But Mangini holding steady at draft time and going with what was right for the Jets future shows he has character and determination to make this team better even if it means being the un-popular guy for a year or two.

    (2) Who are you hoping the Jets pick in the 2006 Draft?

I hoped the Jets would pick Ferguson(which they did) and then with the 29th pick choose DeAngelo Williams, but I think Mangold was a solid choice as well. I was hoping the Jets would get an RB with the 35th pick, but trading to Washington was great because the future second round pick gives us leverage in the future.

    (3) The 2006 season will be a success if. . . .

The Offensive line stabilizes and is able to protect Chad/Ramsey/Clemens/Bollinger. Our running game is able to put some points on the board. Our recievers step up their game. Our Defense must play better against the run.
I am not expecting a championship(although I wouldn't mind), what I am looking for is a young team becoming cohesive and joining together with a new coach. It ussually takes a year for a new coach and a team to get on the same page, and next year should be that and then it will be a success.

    (4) How long do you give the Mangini/Tannenbaum administration to succeed?

I do not want to rush them by giving them one or two years. I will say a max of three years. Year one for adjustment into a new system and getting players into the Mangini mind-set. Year 2, solve the QB and RB question in the long run and elminate players who do not fit the right mindset. Year 3, fix the minor problems and prepare this team for a championship. I would like to add that I think Mangini will pull this off for sure, I see something in him that I do not see with many coaches: determination to do what is necessary.

its going to be a tough couple of years but I won't go crazy, well at least not that much...

    (1) What was your first impression of the hiring of Eric Mangini as head coach, and the promotion of Mike Tannenbaum as General Manager?

At first with the hiring of Mangini I was a little confused. Not for who he is but his age and expierence. It's a curveball from the Jets, not a bad one, just a plain curveball. Coaches are usualy more mature with more time and knowledge in the league but obviously the people in charge know more then me in deciding to put a Jets jacket on his shoulders. With

    (2) Who are you hoping the Jets pick in the 2006 Draft?
Honestly the way i thought it would go was to pick D'Brick first. They simply needed him and a guy with that much hype playing LT doesnt happen all that often. After that with the 2nd pick in the first round I figured maybe go defense followed by a WR to help out Coles some, but Im actually more impressed in what the Jets did.

    (3) The 2006 season will be a success if. . . .
Chad comes back and stays helthy, the O-line meets their expectations and Ellis makes up for John leaving

    (4) How long do you give the Mangini/Tannenbaum administration to succeed?

I say 3 years. one to get the team to work HIS system, second year to perfect it, third year we got at least a solid playoff run.

    (1) What was your first impression of the hiring of Eric Mangini as head coach, and the promotion of Mike Tannenbaum as General Manager?

I liked it a lot. Everybody seems to harp on the fact that they're young, but it's like anything else, age doesn't matter, results do. And given their respective pedigrees, they have as good a chance to succeed as anyone with the bonus that they could be around for years to come.

    (2) Who are you hoping the Jets pick in the 2006 Draft?

I was very happy with the draft. I didn't expect us to pick Mangold because we signed Teague, but it makes sense since that creates competition/depth. Generally, I was hoping for great character guys (the kind that will get really mad at any teammate that takes a play off) and that's exactly what we got. I'm willing to bet that at least a couple of future coaches come out of this draft.

    (3) The 2006 season will be a success if. . . .

We finish 9-7 and get a sixth seed. In the NFL, if you're just healthy for most of the season, you can go 7-9. Most teams that do well seem to stay healthy or have depth at the positions where they get injured. I don't think 9-7 is completely unreasonable, especially if our division rivals face some of the same injuries that plagued us last year. That said, I'm willing to say we succeeded if we go 6-10/5-11 and we finish strong.

    (4) How long do you give the Mangini/Tannenbaum administration to succeed?

We should finish above .500 in 3 years. If not, they need to go.

    (1) What was your first impression of the hiring of Eric Mangini as head coach, and the promotion of Mike Tannenbaum as General Manager?

I think it's a great hire. They are two new young people who can take the franchise in a new direction. I expect nothing but good things from the "Tangini" combo.

    (2) Who are you hoping the Jets pick in the 2006 Draft?

While I was one of those people who was mad at our first round choices at first, after looking at the Jets draft as a whole, I came around and I was very pleased. We shored up the offensive line in the first round, scored a great quarterback in Clemens in the second, and drafted some deep talent on day 2.

    (3) The 2006 season will be a success if. . . .

I'm not expecting many wins in 2006, but I think we are actively looking to the future now, and building back this franchise. I expect good things in 2007, and great things in 2008.

    (4) How long do you give the Mangini/Tannenbaum administration to succeed?

Rebuilding takes a couple of years, so I'm willing to be patient with Tangini. Give it a couple of years, and we'll be fine.

Glad to be a part of this great Jets community! :jets:

A bold and aggressive move to bring the Jets forward. I like it. It's ballsy. And Mangini came from the BB school. They want to build through the draft it would seem. Which is the best way to build.

    I wasn't really.

They end with a winning record. It's rae that a coach comes in and in first season takes his team to the big game.
Two seasons to get things right, by the third season they should be making the playoffs.
I wouldn't care if you did. Strictly speaking I'm not a Jets fan, my allegiances are with another team , however I follow the Jets because they have an uniqueness about them, I love NYC, and I hate the Giants (that should give you a clue).

That's about where I'm at. One season to find the field, the second to build a team, the third to compete - hard.
