Sanchez was a running QB...and..fwiw, took more contact than any of those guys. The Jets brought in baseball players to teach him to slide.

RGIII, Kaepernick,Wilson? One third didnt finish the season.....
Neither did Vick. 2/5.. In fact, he hasnt played 16 games in quite a while.

And between Cam Newton, and Mike Vick, how many games have they actually won, in the last two years.

(23 of 64) yeah, thats where you want to go.

Yeah, Wilson, and Kaepernick looked good, however so did the wildcat...for about a year.

The pics are nice. The stats.....not so much.

The wildcat had running backs who couldn't throw the ball. Quarterbacks who can run and throw have always been the next logical step. Not everyone can do it consistently, but RG3, Wilson and Kaepernick all made the playoffs last season, Kaepernick made the Super Bowl, and Newton has been a productive QB. Vick was very good once upon a time, not so much anymore.

But saying Sanchez was a RUNNING QB? Seriously? He'd scramble on occasion, and his athleticism was underrated by some, but he's not a running QB, come on.

Sanchez wasn't even close to a running QB. He could do it, sure, but come on 52 attempts for 16 total yards of rushing in a year? That's an average of 0.3. Sanchez maybe ran the ball 1 out of every 7 attempts, and he wasn't very successful, aside from 3 short yardage rushing TDs. Geno wasn't a running QB either. Both were passing QBs, but Mark was on a team that rushed the ball a much larger percent of the time.

    Sanchez ran out of desperation.

I don't want to see any of our qb's running around.

Hobbes is right...that's the sure way to IR.

Designed runs along with the awareness to know when to eat an attempt as in sliding or getting out of bounds

It's not like these guys are running between the tackles

4-5 attempts a game is a great way to keep the defense honest

Add to that a strong power runner(Lynch, Gore and Morris) we have Ivory and you have a recipe for success

    I don't like it.

They're protected in the backfield. Take advantage of it.

A runner can get plenty hurt without getting hit hard as it is.

Yeah but it's all how much you do it

    Washington got out of hand

Seattle used it sparingly and prepared Wilson to slide if necessary

Geno Smith played a spread offense in high school and college. It's silly to think that has prepared him for a WC offense. Now if the Jets are going to run pure read option, he is obviously better suited. But he'll also be suited in bandages if they were dumb enough to do that.

Cam Newton is a hell of a lot better than Sanchez ever was. And thats an understatement. Statistically, he's had the best first two seasons from a QB. Ever. When you look at the team around Cam and Sanchez, you realize why each one has experienced their lack of success or their success respectively.

The thing you are missing with Wilson, Kaep, and RG3, is that the read option doesnt make them. From a passing stand point- theyve been better than Sanchez ever has been.

    Like Junc keeps saying.

Fantasy stats are nice, to be sure. What is Newtons W/l record?

    Playoff wins?

Its also fair to argue that wilson, kaep, and griffin, played in better offenses than Sanchez.
