We don't say it as insults, do we? We say it in self-pity. Big difference. Jet fans should know the distinction, we experience it all the time... And all the "26 to 2!" stuff. To the credit of Yankee fans here, there was none of that in this particular thread. But when they root for a team that's really the football equivalent (that is to say, the Jets), and Patriots/Giants/Whoever fans play the history/credibility card, they're the assholes. I don't see how there's even a counterargument here...
Buddy, the cartwheel is the way he pitches if you haven't noticed. Oh ya he don't watch the Mets you just make assumptions off of two games, my bad I forgot. The only thing K-Rod does as a celebration, is wave his arms up in the air and kiss the sky. Just another damn Skankie fan who thinks Joba's celebration is accepted but K-Rod's isn't.
I like when guys like Jabba and Frankie show emotion and shit. If I were a pitcher or athlete or something, I'd totally do that. I celebrate and show emotion with fist pumps playing pick-up games of tennis. Big leagues? I'd lose my fucking mind. I guess when Jabba did it to piss off Huff, it may not have been appropriate considering the situation, but hey, sometimes the emotion is influenced by the atmosphere. Large crowd, lots of noise, you gotta get amped. I still think Jabba and Papsmear are douchebags, but not for that reason.
This "hypocrosy" theory about being a Jet fan and Yankee fan is so fuckin retarded. And not neccasarily because its innacurate but more becuase hypocrosy is so prevalent in the world of spectator sport that its not even worth mentioning. You know, me as a yankee fan rooting for Clemens as a Yankee when I hated his mother for all those years. Theres a million such examples. When a team you hate sucks, youre gonna make fun of them. Regardless if you happen to root for another team in anotehr sport that sucks. Duh.
It is nice, because once you have wfan or espn on, then you can just minimize the screen, while still hearing it. Then you can keep doing your other computer work, while listening to all of the scoop!
That's fair; Clemens is a great example. But it's still very frustrating to be on the Mets end of it when Yankee/Jet fans do that when it makes no sense. I suppose that's typical more than anything though, you're right.
thats what im sayin. And if by the grace of God one day, the Jets become the prototypical winning franchise and the Pats return to their losing ways, WE will be acting all high and mighty as Jet fans. Its just sports
Yankees haven't won anything in almost 10 years, they have been as big a disappointment as the Mets have been over the last few years.
That's the great truth in sports. The winners always rub it in everyone's face. Were Atlanta fans gracious back in the 90s, after how long being inept? Were Red Sox fans gracious over the past few years, after most of a century of ineptitude? Victory gives you the upper hand in an argument. It is what it is. That's ridiculous. Granted, the Yankees haven't won the World Series, but they've been playing in October every year save last year since 1995. Have the Yankees lived up to expectations? No. But the Mets have fallen far shorter of theirs than the Yankees have.
You forgot "Were the Yankees fans gracious back in the 90s?" Answer: Hell no. But we get your point
I don't know how you don't see the distinction between the way Joba and K-Rod celebrate...when Joba makes a big out he'll give a shout and pump his fist. The last time I saw K-Rod nail down a save in person (he was still with the Angels then) he jumped down on his knees, screamed for a little bit then raised his hands to God twice, while the rest of the team just went about their business. Even if you think they're one and the same, when Joba was called on his celebrating by Aubrey Huff he took it in stride and basically said "you can't make everyone happy." When K-Rod was called out he responded by ripping on Bruney personally then trying to pick a fight before the game started. How can people not see a distinction there?
I said the last few years and I don't think that is ridiculous in any way. Losing in the first round to a clearly inferior team is just as disppointing as losing on the last day when you had no business playing a meaningful last day anyway. Mets have been a crappy team the last 2 plus seasons, the idea that they had any expectation of playing in the post season is what is ridiculous.
UNBELIEVABLE....OMG, that is great vid!!!:up::up: ARod got a bit mauled there... Poor Castillo...don't know how he got out of the stadium alive that night. hmy:
The conversation was already about Yankees fans. Saying that would have made little sense to the point. But I wouldn't expect a Sawx fan to comprehend a conversation being held by people who can eat with a fork and knife. What clearly inferior team have the Yankees lost to in the past few years? The Angels who had superior pitching? The Red Sox with a superior team? Maybe you could argue Cleveland. Losing to the Marlins to end your season is losing to an inferior team. Losing in October (regardless of the fact that they didn't hit well) is disappointing, sure, but not nearly as disappointing as falling a single game short when you're playing a basement team. It's ridiculous man. I'm not trying to rub anything in, but you can't legitimately compare the Mets and Yankees in terms of level of disappointment by the fanbase over the past few seasons.
