I remember my 1st car fondly, it was still a piece of shit. Shea is a shitty park to watch a game, its facilities are lacking, and its architecturally depressing. The first time I went to citizens bank park in Philly was an amazing experience, a real park designed 1st and foremost to allow the fans to watch the game in comfort and have an amazing experience. They cant tear down Shea fast enough, I don't care that 69, 73, 86, and 00 all happened there. My favorite Met moment ever is Piazzas post 9/11 Home Run, and I was there for the Endy catch in 06, but all that history doesn't change the fact that Shea is a run down dump and a relic of a terrible era in sports stadium design.
Interesting story about Sandy Koufax visiting Mets camp to help out Wagner and talk to Pedro. http://www.sportsline.com/mlb/story/10663664 I always take personal pleasure in lines like this: Why? Because that was at Lafayette High School, and my father was a biology teacher there at the time (in fact, he was there until 1965). My father doesn't remember Wilpon, but he does remember watching Koufax play basketball (Koufax was a great basketball player, who got a full ride in that sport at the University of Cincinnati).
So now that people around the Mets organization, after seeing El Duque, have realized that there's no way in hell he can be counted on as a starter, are clamoring for either Pelfrey to start, with El Duque in the pen, or for Lohse to be signed...somehow. I'm willing to give Pelfrey a shot I guess...
they both have to hold up and realize its ST. no need to catch the ball and risk injury. stupid players..
