People keep using the 2012 Jets team to figure out the 2013 schedule, but in reality, the Jets will be a completely different team. So will many of the teams who we are considering too good to beat right now.
I think if you want to win the most possible games in 2013, Sanchez has to start. I know that makes me sound like Rex, but I think he gives the team the best chance to win in 2013.
He's not even the best QB on the roster right now. He does not give us the best chance to win. He's a turnover machine.
Schedule is pretty similar to last year in the sense that we have a shit ton of tough early games (that 5 game stretch between weeks 5-9 is absurd), but the sched softens up considerably towards the end. This assumes, however, that these teams play to the same level they did last year.
I think people just factor in the odds of the Jets being a bad team. The schedule is not too bad. They avoid the Broncos, 49ers, Seahawks, Packers, Colts, Texans, etc.
I don't know about "completely different" obviously not "exactly the same" but just because something isn't exactly the same doesn't qualify it as being completely different. A lot of the same names and faces are going to be out there and in some cases we've lost players and replaced them with inferior products, especially if we trade Revis (plus Greene, Landry, Keller for example). Plus we still have Sanchez and a pile of other subpar QBs. So, yeah, I'd take issue with your "completely different" statement and while that doesn't doom us to a 6-10 record (or worse) there is far more basis for that then a .500 or better schedule like some people are projecting.
Tampa game could be ugly if Revis is on the other side. Imagine if the Jets are struggling and Sanchez tosses one Revis' way. Yikes. There's going to be half empty stadiums for those Oakland and Cleveland home games in Dec. Woody's building is going to be a morgue.
Im so happy we play the Patriots week 2. I woulda preffered it to be at home but the Patriots as of late, do have a history of starting of slow. I think this Thursday game gives us a great chance to steal one from them. Our last 3 games in Foxborough have all come down to the wire, so I expect this one to also.
The only team that I can confidently say we are better than is the Raiders... Everyone else is either better or equal.
True, except that it's a Thursday night game after we just played on Sunday so we may not have had enough time to rest and prepare for the Pats. Or they might be looking past the Bucs a bit getting ready for the Pats. So while there could be some benefit to going in early (i.e. they start slow, might still be missing some guys from injury, Brady and Amendola not clicking yet) there are going to be some negatives as well.
We open up at Tampa then 4 days later we play the Pats on thursday night. Wow the NFL hates the Jets they really want us to start off 0-2
Garrard hasn't played in years, Tebow is terrible (and will be released), McElroy is okay, but not starting caliber. So yeah, not joking.
Like I say every year, trying to figure out wins and losses by looking at the schedule in April is beyond assinine. One thing I will say is a lot of you are making that Pittsburgh game out to be far harder than it is. We surely can lose it but we can win that game as well. We might be looking at the worst Steeler team in quite sometime. They sucked last year. ( I know they beat us)
