I could handle the jets drafting a QB and trading for Mac Jones as a bridge. But I would not give the 49ers more than a late day 3 pick for Jones, and not sign him to any extension before the season started. A lot of teams start the season w the bridge QB and then turn it over to the rookie mid season1 or start of season 2.
Maybe I misunderstood, but there is no way in hell we should give Murray $40M. In fact, he really shouldn't be an option at any cost. We already have two guys still in the books that did us no favors except add to the cap by a ton and improve the win rate by zippo.
Cutting him might be hard because it is $47m dead cap even for a post 1 June cut and his salary for next year is around $53m so they would only save themselves about $5m in cap space by cutting him vs keeping him for next year (after next season it would only be $7m dead cap for a late cut) so I assume they will want to trade him to someone even if they don't get much in return because then the dead cap is only $10m and they save themselves $40m of cap space. The jets salary/cap information is pretty interesting reading: - this year we were one of only 3 teams with over $100m in dead cap and next year the Jets are slated to have the highest amount of dead cap at this point (over $70m) - this year and slated for next year the Jets have the lowest active cap spend in the NFL (I guess because we no longer have many star players and we dont have a top tier QB) so if it wasn't for all the dead cap they would have a ridiculous amount available to spend
I'd take Kyler Murray if he's cut by Arizona and we get him for cheap. But I wouldn't take on any of his current contract in a trade whatsoever
I don’t want him period. Hard stop. Hate the player and we don’t need a bad attitude as QB for a young team This is the position that should be setting the tone for the team, the most hardworking guy on the team, and he’s most definitely not that guy
Still amazed that the Cards drafted QBs Josh Rosen and Murray w high picks in consecutive drafts. And I thought the jets drafted poorly.
Folks. Finally I got over the win impacting our draft position. To be honest I put $100 on a 2 leg parlay with Jets winning the game and Breece Hall scoring a TD. I won $414. But calling it meaningless probably was a disrespect to our players playing this game to win and for their future. So I deleted the "Meaningless" from the title. Any by the way, Jets will win the Dolphins game too. I am ready for it and will welcome it for obvious reasons.
We are in the same exact ballpark with the Cardinals and the Browns as far as drafting goes, especially QBs…it’s a huge part of the reason why all three teams have sucked so bad for so long
Now that you want the Jets to win, guess what will happen? I actually think it will be a close one like with Atlanta.
