Where did this come from? The jersey looks pretty nice, but the logo looks eerily like a Dolphin (hello Adam Gase).
That's the first logo the team used after switching from the Titans name.....i think 1963. Was very short lived...maybe only a year or two before changing to the one we essentially still have.
I think it will be an evolved 80's look as well. Similar to the picture at top of page. I like the lighter green, and wouldn't hate it. But our current uniforms in just a lighter green, and with no green pants, would actually be better. I got a feeling we will eventually return to what we already have. Most teams do, and rightfully so.
Yeah, that's the '63 logo. It lasted one whole year. Prior to that they were the Titans. The name was changed when they made a deal to make Shea their home because of it's proximity to LaGuardia and Kennedy (also renamed in '63 after the assassination). They moved into Shea for the start of the 1964 season. I was 6 years old at the time.

'65 was this: JETS on the helmets, '66 was the retarded dolphin posing as a plane. '67 I do believe is the year they switched to the oval/sort of current logo. @Jeti, that was pretty much the original green on the uniforms between the retarded dolphin and SB III. I really hope they don't go back to the retarded dolphin for a logo. It was bad even back then, haha. EDIT: Will try to scan in and host/post tomorrow.
Our logo will be changing, we will have green helmets and the uniforms will be kelly green and white with grey stripes. That's my hope. the kelly green by itself.. ehh. but the combination of all 3 without black is what I am hoping for.
The inception of the NY Jets was with the mindset of the glitz, glamour, and prestige that came along with flying on commuter jets back in the 50s-60s (this is why Namath with the fur coats resonated so well with the identity of the team.) Rex Ryan was trying to parallel the Jets identity with the military, and no, I don't like the military motif. I don't necessarily think they even need to use a Jet as a logo at all. They could find a way to integrate the contrails into the logo, like this:
i agree, but I'd go dark gray like a charcoal i dont think we need a military motif, but more so a fighter jets that would imply power and speed
So kinda like the 80's look, but with some gray accents. I'd be fine with that, but I don't think that's how it will go down. At this point, I'm just hoping for a better shade of green and minimal overall change. Less is more. Please no futuristic concepts which won't age well........and no pickle pants! the suspense is killing me. I hope they don't fuck this up as we'll be stuck with it for a nickel.
