Black and green? That's nice for a Yule Tree with a Halloween theme but other than that, it's dreadful. Besides, the Jets don't need Halloween costumes to either play like clowns or put me in a state of terror. If anything, maybe tweak the green a little, set the green pants on fire, and that's it. What is so hard about this? I mean this: Or this:
I'm putting little to no stock in this reddit post. I'm sure that there will be some black in the uniforms (although I'd prefer a darker grey myself), but I'd be very surprised if green and white weren't the primary colors for the franchise moving forward.
Just my two cents: Jets are Green and White, such a classic color scheme. I won't fully agree with a major move to black and green, but I'm all for a black alternate and to go from there depending how good it looks. In terms of a fighter jet logo, I fully approve. They are the JETS. Have to market that idea way better than they have. A fighter jet is badass and can really have a positive impact on the culture of the team. That being said, I'm not so sure about a full move to that as a primary logo. If too large, whether on the jersey or helmet, it can potentially look cringingly tacky. A smaller secondary logo on the shoulders or something would be a better start. Then you can go from there and get creative if it looks right. Implementing the fighter jet better into the franchise can have a huge impact. I know it's just a logo and most people here will say "who cares what the logo/color scheme is, find ways to win games." I completely get that, and I agree. But the team is young and has a few pieces with high potential, not to mention a huge offseason coming up. A new look, and change of pace that this team can completely embrace and make their own can work wonders for the attitude in the locker room going forward. Imagine a good Jets team, playing meaningful football in the regular season and eventually the playoffs, at home, with fighter Jets flying over the stadium before kickoff. Imagine a continued implementation of the loud air raid siren being set off before a drive where the Jets need to score or get a big stop to ice the game. Imagine the skill players doing the Jet celebration after scoring a go-ahead touchdown or getting a game-changing interception. Things like that can really get the stadium rocking during meaningful home games. It's something Jets fans can really embrace when done right. When you think of all the successful franchises in the NFL who are scary to play at home, they all have fans who embrace the culture and really rock their respective stadiums. There's a huge opportunity to get there for the Jets. It DOES start with winning games and being way more successful than they have been. That's the only way fans and the locker room will truly start to embrace it. But with an offense led by the promising Sam Darnold, a defense led by the chippy Jamal Adams, and whoever the new head coach is (banking on the fact they get it right), there's a big opportunity to turn the franchise around. To make a long story short, there is a huge marketing opportunity here for the Jets to take advantage of. I'm glad to hear that they finally may potentially be looking to jump on it. It's important as fans, both seasoned and new, to have an open mind and realize the potential it has if things go the right way. It WILL come down to putting a winning team on the field, but that's always a given for prolonged success.
I was originally down on these but if w'ere going full on black on green, I would gladly accept something like this.
I wouldn't put any stock in that reddit post. None. Zero. Furthermore, I couldn't disagree more about incorporating a fighter jet into the logo or branding. I really hope they stay away from that. Just keep it simple and classy, some sort of graphic NY or Jets wordmark. That's all you need. New York City carries enough weight as a brand on its own, you don't have to resort to gimmicky mascots and symbols.
If those black rectangles are supposed to be pictures, they're a fail. The description sounds absolutely awful. Black would be stupid. It is not one of our colors and it is so trite and hackneyed. That would show zero creativity or class.
There won’t be any black. That dude on reddit is full of shit. Black was a late 90s/early 2000s fad. $23 bucks says it’s a brighter green and white. Like the color rush we have been seeing the last couple years with some tweaks to the helmet and logo
Black? The Raiders wear black. Other teams who've incorporated black (e.g. Jaguars, Ravens) have shit uniforms that look like NFL-Europe castoffs. NYJ's in black would look like cheap 'me too' cunts . (i.e. trying too hard...) .
Jags black uniform is nice as well as the Ravens. Black is a great color, our tradition sucks. It’s time for something new.
I don’t think you guys should sleep on black being heavily used. This year the QB practice jerseys went to all black w green numbers. Maybe a clue.
No contact jerseys are typically in a color scheme the rest of the team isn’t regularly using. So the black scheme would make sense as an alternate in this context.
Magenta, rust, and lime green with Santeria chicken feet as a logo. Maybe a dead cat or road kill. PLEASE GOD MAKE IT STOP.
Yeah, especially since wearing camo only makes it harder for the Jets to find each other. Or easier to shoot each other in the woods by accident during hunting season. Ooops.
No it isn't. Black is so lame. It's a pathetic effort to make the team look "bad" or "tough." So many teams have done it, it's a joke. It hasn't helped their play one bit. The only reason to totally change the color scheme would be if the Johnsons either moved the team to London or sold the team and that new owner moved them to another city and state and changed the nickname of the team.
I disagree. It has nothing to do w looking bad or tough. It just looks good..you may disagree & thats fine its purely preference but theres no false bravado at play here. Alot of people like black & green. And it fits the jets..tough,soft.whatever they are at this stage..
