I don't think the Jets need a uniform change. It would be cool to see the black jerseys sold in stores as alternates, but no other change is needed. I can't really image how they would be change anyway unless they were made in the style of the Cardinals and Vikings current jerseys.

How has the Lions updated uniform design worked out? Now if ever there was a franchise in need of change, and distancing itself from its past, (NFL merged past, at least) the Lions did. Have their new uniforms changed the perception of the Lions as a hapless, hopeless franchise?? Has that made anyone forget that they have sucked for 50 years? No. Winning does. No matter what your uniform looks like.

I do. I thought the new NE uniforms sucked. Still do.

I couldn't disagree more with the rest of your post. So we have a running history as a bunch of losers, you think a uniform change will make us all go into denial? I understand the need to shed it and forget it, but it defeats the purpose in my mind.

As to Fat Bill, he had the Jets uniforms changed BACK to the old logo. Personally I think the Jets uniforms are one of the best going. Clean and snappy. I hated the old "new" ones with that horrid kelly green (barf). I'm really resistant to having them change yet again into some 'modern' garbage. I like them as they are. What I WOULD get rid of is those horrid green pants. Yesterday. They've always made me fit to puke.

And it will always be Joe Namath's New York.

The Green/White is the only thing that reminds me of what a great team this was that won the SB! Just because you didnt see it back then isnt reason enough for us that have suffered for the past 39 years to junk the colors. We had the option Titans colors this year. Thats enough. There are some of us out here that have been fans for more then the past 15 years or so and some of us like the tradition of the colors that the Sack Exchange, Wesley Walker, Richard Todd, etc. wore.

seriously do you think that changing uniforms will change anything? cman i have alot of respect for you as a poster but you are being a little silly with this one.

i can see the poster who talked about the background stuff, then again every team in the nfl has the background of thier home color on every wall and usually on every fan. so i dont know how much of a difference changing the color would actually do. maybe we should paint the field blue like boise state and get the giants to believe we did it for them only to end up with a distinct advantage over EVERYONE. then again boise state does ok on the smurfturf.

i am a big fan of tradition, i was very happy when they went to these uniforms as they are traditional. i would be absolutely disgusted if the jets came out in anything like these new ugly cheesy uniforms, arizona, denver, atlanta.... disgusting disgusting disgusting, they dont even look like football uniforms. they are a shame.

i couldnt imagine the yankmees with names on their backs, just like i couldnt imagine notre dame with something on their golden domes.

sorry but im a bit of a traditionalist, i also dont believe that change simply for the sake of change has a point.

and i sure as hell dont want to see some new updated fancy gay looking uniforms.

Four score years? Who hit the fast-forward button?

The thing is, I could just imagine sitting here in another 40 years wondering if the Jets are ever going to win another Super Bowl - but I doubt their uniforms will have anythng to do with it.

And didn't St Louis go to the blue and gold unis after they won the Super Bowl?

lol yes, it is the uniforms......no it isn't.

Stay with the green, that is what I have known the Jets to be for decades. No need to panic and change the team colors, name, and identity. Only thing that will happen then is people saying "look, they changed their name and team colors...but we still know them as SAME OLD JETS!"

The difference is the grass isn't blue. The white lines aren't blue. Because they're white. haha

What is it about changing and updating the design on the unis that scares people so much around here? Its almost as if you're afraid to depart from this "winning tradition" we've built around the team. From the reactions around here, you'd swear we were the Bears or the Steelers and have been around the NFL forever.

Newsflash: We're not a storied franchise and we have but ONE championship in 40 years to hang our hats on. There is NO tradition to speak of except perhaps running a franchise and losing games in the most deflating ways imaginable. This is not the New York Jets that played in Flushing, NY anymore. They don't practice on Long Island nor is Joe Namath coming back to guarantee a SB win ever again. There is no longer any real connection to the '69 Jets except for the name and the uni design. There's no tradition at all Alley. None that I would care to be reminded of.

Don't be so afraid of change Alley. Its not always a bad thing man. Especially if Woody really wants to make this HIS team. As it is, by keeping the "1969 unis", he's keeping the SOJ's alive. How? By reminding all of us just how futile these last 4score years have been. I see 1969 and then reality hits. It's 2009 and there's no link, no winning tradition and only 1 legendary day to remember.

Woody has a chance to completely change the direction and fortunes of this franchise by letting the ghost of 1969 RIP along with Leon Hess's New York Jets. If he's a shrewd businessman, he'll take this opportunity to start fresh and change the perception of this franchise. Hell, if Woody is still mesmerized by what's going on up in NE, he could take a page from BP and update the uni design.

BTW, not all uniform designers OR design changes are "gay" either. What's the real reason behind this resistance to change? Nobody want's to buy new and different gear? I still see people sporting those mid-80's unis and that design wasn't gay, just bland.

One more time. I'm saying keep the colors as they are but update the design to reflect the Jets of 2009 and not the Jets of 1969. Those Jets and that franchise is long gone and its high time this team creates its own "legacy".

All they are doing is protecting there investment in NYJ gear IMHO since if they changed the unis or colors or both they would have purchase all new NYJ gear
