Adding black to the uniform? Change the colors? Crazy talk. Adding black was the thing to do in the 1990's. Who are we, the Mets? Adding black is just a cry for attention. Plus it looks corny. The Jets uniform is classic. It looks classy(save the green pants) and is one of the only good things we have going for us. Not to mention all of these futuristic uniforms are fugly- Arizona, Atlanta, Minny. Yuck. The Raiders uniform looks faded? WTF? Do you guys have any taste? lol
When was the last time you bought a new suit or car and how did it make you feel? Tell me you're not wearing the same clothes you did 10 years ago..
They do look faded. Do you still wear 3piece suits with really wide collars? For the record, I'm saying keep the green and white. Just update the design.
The Raiders have arguably the best uniform in football. Should Alabama change theirs? Oklahoma? Texas? Notre Dame? Come on. The classy uni will never go out of style. The Jets have a classy uniform. No reason to change it. If the Jets go to some ugly arena style uni I'd be annoyed. The Vikings new uniform is an abortion.
Changing the uniform color/design/logo etc goes beyond luck. All of that encapsulates an identity, begotten by the players. Have you ever seen those black unis the Ravens wear? To me, it's more intimidating to see that flying around the field, then white & green, or solid green or solid white; but that's me, others might not care. The point of all this is, the change is for the sake of change -- to break ties from a 40 year losing streak. Even if it's minuscule, any change that produces a psychological effect for the better is worth it.
I wouldn't compare the Yanks to the Jets in any way, shape or form man. If the Jets had the Yankees legacy, I can see the point. The Jets don't have that legacy do they? The Yankees are light years beyond where the Jets are as a franchise.
OK guess you're a FASHION type dude........whatever......I'm a traditionalist as far as the uniforms go............love the JETS, COLTS, RAIDERS, SAINTS, STEELERS, CHARGERS, VIKINGS, etc.
I'd like for the uniform to stay the way it is, but if they had to do something to it, leave it the way it is, just add the same stripe on the side of the Uniform as the Cards.
I don't have a problem with tradition as long as its a good tradition. It just doesn't make sense to me to hold on to a "legacy" that encompasses exactly 1 championship season. Traditions can still be created Red. Its time for the new Jets to make theirs and actually come up with their own identity instead of piggybacking on 1969 forever.
Changing the uni's isn't going to change jack ****. It's the guys wearing them that will determine a winning team, not a uniform. When they changed the uni in 98 it was an upgrade, when people see that uni they thought of Joe Namath and a time when the Jets were good, when you seen the all green helmet of the late 70's threw 97, though the Jets had some good years in there, that uni reminded me of lousy seasons, but again, it's who's wearing the uni that counts. I like the Jets current uni, it's unique and they should keep it in my opinion.
NO......................keep the respected Jets Green and White as it is........no Euro League stripe shit...none of that...........no green Helmets..keep it as it is...........TRADITIONAL - BACK WHEN WE WERE WORLD CHAMPIONS and let's aim for that goal next year!
RE: Raiders The uniforms, particularly the road ones, are good. But the helmet? Egads. First of all, the one stripe down the middle is not cool in my book (Giants and Steelers are other culprits). Secondly, the logo is a drawing of a pirate wearing a helmet. A helmet with a drawing of a helmet? Ridiculous. The Dolphins have the same problem. While I hate the Alabama helmets (one stripe down middle, numbers on sides), I love their uniforms mainly because they do not have "TV" numbers (possibly because they have #s on the sides of the helmets). They only have numbers on the front and back of the jerseys. The West Virginia Mountaineers and some other college teams also do not have TV numbers. I like that look. The Cincinnati Bengals were the last NFL team to have jerseys with only numbers on the front and back (mid to late 1970s). Somehow they got away with it even after the league instituted a rule that said jerseys must have numbers on the sleeves or above the shoulders.
This debate is so subjective. It's pretty much based on personal preference to the actual uniform and tradition. My question is, how does changing the unis/logo hurt? I can't find any reason why it would negatively affect the team?
How anyone can hate the Bama helmets is beyond me. I suppose you guys would change the Penn St unis, too?
