Yes, this is not a good time for Robby and I very much doubt you will see Siemian airing it out long and he will still be waiting for his first 1k season
If the truth be known, it may be Siemian that gave mono to Sam. Barring Sam getting injured, Siemian knew Sam getting mono would be his only chance to see extended playing time this season and have a chance to get a big contract in FA to start for another team next year.
Trevor Siemien may actually be a better fit for Gase's scheme. He's started twice as many games as Sam...stats out as good or better... He's performed well in big/clutch situations. And don't forget he beat out veteran Mark Sanchez to win the starting job in Denver. It's the injuries to Bell, Mosely and Quinnen that are a concern for this game. Can we actually win? We shouldn't...but it'll make great headlines if we do. Go Trevor!
Siemian has 24 career starts, all with the Broncos — 14 in 2016 and 10 in 2017. He has a decent amount of NFL experience (835 passes attempted). I think every Jets fan would sign up for a QB Controversy right now! The initial shock of Sam's mono has worn off now for me and I think the Jets can realistically compete with Siemian. The schedule is brutal, but they just need the defense to step up, and run the offense through Bell. Seems reasonable to me. I assume he has experience throwing to Demaryius Thomas, so that could make his transition to the offense easier too. No reason to give up on the season just yet. My true concern is Sam's long term health. Hopefully he will be okay, and Trevor can steer the ship while he heals.
If Simean just dinks and dunks Bell is going to get blasted and probably injured. I hope Gase is willing to stretch the field else our season is toast.
