I disagree with your last point. The reason we haven't had a franchise QB and thus been a consistent competitor is because our moronic owner is so arrogant or stupid (or both) that he can't see how clueless he is, or simply doesn't care, and has continually made bad hires of GMs and HCs, and even then not let them do their job. It's a toy for a bored trust fund baby. Even if they were lucky enough to hire a great HC or GM (they'd never be lucky enough to hire both at the same time), the incompetent one of the pair will always undermine the quality one. You're probably right that the Johnsons will never sell the team, and thus, imo there is no reason for hope. The one way I could see the Johnsons selling the team is if all the NY area media embarked upon a campaign to ridicule and humiliate the Johnsons for the boobs they are. I believe the reporters themselves might be willing to do that, but their editors or newspaper owners would probably prevent it.
The time for Mac to be given a chance to hire his own HC was when he was hired, when he was still highly respected and largely unknown. Do you seriously think he should be given the opportunity now after all the bad draft picks and lousy FA signings? He couldn't outsmart that nitwit Bowles in getting his way with the team. What chance would we have of his hiring someone any smarter or better?
That there are adults that truly believe there is a fan/media based path to convincing the Johnson’s to sell.
There's only 2 ways the Johnson's sell their cash cow... Bad health or the death of both of them. Nothing else will pry them away from their personal bank vault so yeah, its a waste of webspace even suggesting they sell the team. It just ain't happening.
Sometimes I don’t get the level of intelligence here. Do folks really think the Jets are moving out of Met Life? To fucking London? Because Woody is going to be a diplomat for a few more years? That billionaires are going to be “shamed” into selling? We need more threads about firing folks.
And I will respectfully submit that billionaires like the Johnson’s have estate succession in place such that they won’t be forced to sell even upon both of them dying in a fiery plane crash together. They aren’t selling. Yet there will be a hundred of posts in the coming months just CRYING for the Johnson’s to sell to save our franchise. A total waste of bandwidth indeed. Get over it.
I don’t know man, one more scathing tweet from Mehta coupled with some name calling on a message board and I think they might sell. Could happen
I believe Leon Hess had something along those lines in place when he passed on. The family didn't want anything to do with the Jets so they were put up for sale.
It’s the media humiliation that’s going to do it. I remember how humiliated I felt when the first rust spots showed up on my 69 Camaro. Sold it the next day. Did t even need the $900.
