CT Jets fan and myself have been parking together for years. I hear alot of the complaints aout the traffic nightmare, and it does suck. For CT and I, we get there early. I am there when the lot opens, and CT is usually right behind me by an hour or so. I understand everyone does not like to go to the game 5 hours before kick off, but neither do I... I prefer 7-8 hours before kickoff... but the rules will not allow us to do that any more. All kidding aside, I guess if you have issues getting into this new cluster of a mess just go earlier, if you can. The tailgate party was outstanding yesterday... great eats.
My advice: Buy your upper level tickets but no parking pass on go on Jets Ticket Exchange get a yellow pass for $25 ($35 with fees).
I went to the jets ticket exchange but excuse my ignorance I couldnt find an option to buy just the parking pass. Wanna link me up?
I can't link you to the actual pass but here's the link for the Jets vs Vikings game. Just scroll all the way to the bottom and you will see parking passes and work your way up. There are several yellow listed for $25 each.
I am reading these horror stories but did not see any for myself. I got there at 4:00pm. Lot B had plenty available spots. I parked in Lot D since a friend had PSL parking and was riding with me. A friend with PSL for Lot D got in about 5:00pm without a problem coming from Exit 16W and 3W by taking the overpass leading to the back end of Lot D. I left Lot D in the middle of the 4th Quarter and had no problem with traffic. I looped onto 120 South to 3East to the Turpike. Easy as pie. Looks like the side with Lot B & D were easier to get to and from the turnpike from the south. As for the Lot D experience: We set up a 10 X 10 canopy off the back of my SUV at 4:00pm. Some jackass in a golf cart and yellow shirt approached us at about 4:45pm and asked if we could move the canopy into the spot next to my SUV (I was at the end of the row and there was an 8ft box). Note the time because there was nobody in the lot and plenty of space. I asked him what would happen if I didn't move it. He stated he would notify "safety and the NJ State Troopers" I chuckled at the response. Imagine a State Trooper being called for a rowdy canopy guy?!?! We moved it to make him happy and moved it back when he left. Douche! He never came back. He stated you could not hold a spot and could only take a spot with a permit and vehicle. We had 2 permits and that didn't work without a second vehicle. I'm guessing by the third game and colder weather, this won't even be an issue.
We scoped out the parking lot 2-3 times this summer, scoping out our ideal tailgate oasis. In this case, the end of this lot had our tailgate zone all marked out for us! We have yellow passes, but are in line to get in 5 hours before kickoff, like clockwork.
TRUE STORY---like 17A and 227 and others I scoped out parking and had it all planned out for EVERYONE in our tailgate. WE HAVE PLANNED ALL ALONG TO PARK IN LOT P which is close to RTE 17 and you take 120/ Paterson plank road rite in. Lot P is the very first lot after you give the nice lady your parking pass---------what happened last nite was unreal---first off I got there at 4 pm---read that again 4 pm and as you drive on Paterson Plank road and approach the entrance , the LARGE OVERHEAD FLASHING SIGNS say enter here " Yellow and Green Passes only Orange passes stay straight ahead". Anyone who has looked at the parking plans or read this site knows that LOT P is an option for us upper deck/ orange pass people yet the signs on 120 said I could not enter--BUT we did anyway. I asked the 2 guards as I approached and they were checking passes " am I mistaken or is this not LOT P up on my left" they both said it was and I told them that I knew it was and that it was okay for me to park with my orange pass but the signs are "messed up" . They told me "yeah they knew" . As I turned into LOT P the guard had to move cones out of my way as LOT P is "EMPLOYEE PARKING" . The lot was literally half full at 4 pm--it was all employee parked cars and there were 2 other cars tailgating besides myself. The other 2 cars that came to tailgate with me last nite had bigger problems as I at least had scoped it out ahead of time--nothing in that and many other lots was labeled! You had no idea which lot was which as there were no signs up! I feel for anyone who arrived an hour or 2 before gametime as it was indeed chaos. If you asked anyone as I and my friends did "if this was " or "do you know where lot P is" NO ONE KNEW. Only the first 2 guys that moved the cones for me knew. My buddies were so lost trying to get to US and anyone that worked security or that I asked after those first 2 guards had ZERO CLUE as to where P was. I am sorry for this long winded post but the parking is unreal and whoever had this freaking bright idea probably got a raise but deserves to be "S" canned 5 times over. One other stadium note--the seats have ZERO LEG ROOM ,it is tight!! I am not a large human and my buddy who sits next to me is 5'7 and we were both cramped---the seats seats suck!!!! see below PS if 227 or or 17A are in need of an orange parking pass I have one to sell them at face value ,it's the least I can do for all the info you posted here-- I have made other plans and will no longer use the orange pass--so just PM me and we can work it out
Thank you very much, but I do not need the Orange Pass. I have two sets already to go with my two sets of 4 each tickets. I'm sure you will not have any trouble moving them for face or even more than face. Your post is interesting indeed. I didn't attend the game last night but from what you say about Lot P, it had to be a nightmare for anyone else. What the hell is wrong with these people? Somebody better get their heads out of their asses and pronto! The Agent Orange situation is bad enough let alone signs that fucking say you're not going to be admitted to an Orange Lot. Duh? WTF is going on here? Somebody should lose their job over such outright negligence and incompetance.
Wow. Sorry to hear of your troubles. earlier today I asked if anyone had a P experience to share, and you certainly have. Now, as it got later, did the lot fill up with more tailgaters? How was the shuttle service from there, did you use it? What was your time to get to the stadium from there? Sounds to me as though the Jets thought so lowly of lot P as anything other than banishment, that they didn't care at all to make things clear over there - as if they didn't expect anyone to want to park there, or plan to park there. After the 30 minute journey I had last night from deep deep lot 28 I thought I'd try P next week and see how the shuttle worked. Sounds like that might not be such a good idea. Any other P's out there?
17A, we also parked in 27 but I don't think I'd do it again. The traffic was light leaving and it was an easy out towards the GWB but we will probably do Rte 17 to the Tappan Zee (or the Bear Mtn Bridge) in the regular season. We took the bus (ok) but they just drop you on the east side. I think I'm going to try Lot P for the first game since we're on the Pepsi side (which I was trying to avoid since it's so damn far away). People I talked to in the lots were all disgusted with the parking situation and feel like third class citizens. I just can't envision any way to get home to CT in a reasonable timeframe without an orange lot on the west side other than P.
We did use the shuttle---going and they had buses lined up--it worked well. After the game we walked it took about 15 minutes. As far as other tailgaters,, some came but it was far from full---actually there were way more EMPLOYEES parked there than tailgaters--but in fairness we stopped tailgating around 6;15 and headed in to check out the stadium. The signs were a mess and every employee was just about clueless---Can you imagine if this was Superbowl week? They better get the kinks out real soon
Yeah... I want to know too, so I can get there an hour and 15 minutes before kickoff and have no problems getting in.
