He has a Super Bowl Ring, which is more than I can say for most of the jokers we have at QB.

    Instant upgrade...sign him!

How about Troy Smith? Ravens have Flacco so I guess there's no future for Smith there...

I don't think Leftwich is a long-term solution, however, assuming Favre retires (all this is pointless if he comes back), he would be a decent, but potentially expensive 1-year solution until next year's draft, when the QB pool is supposed to be much better than this year. Would you rather pick a QB from this year's draft or next year's? This year is crappy for drafting QBs, I wouldn't want one of them. To me I'd rather have Leftwich than any of our current backups, provided he's affordable and available. He's not going to be the NFL MVP by any means (nor will any QB we have/sign/draft), but we need a serviceable QB that can keep us in the game and has the potential to make a big play when needed. We don't need someone who the defense knows won't throw the ball in a tight spot. Otherwise we'll get blitzed and sacked all day long. Admittedly, I think Ratliff could potentially amount to something, and maybe Clemens could play better with some protection.
That was the thing I was so excited about with Favre in the first part of the season. It was so nice to have a QB that you actually thought could make a play and the defense had to respect. Things changed a little as the season went on................

I Disagree. Smith is a smart QB with great legs who can easily step in for a few games or in certain formations (running a wildcat or option.)

Definitely not starting material as of now, but an excellent #2 QB if for some reason the Ravens wanted to jettison him.

^ From what Smith has shown, he can be a viable short term answer during a season as the backup... he cannot win games for you, but he won't lose them either.

I'd take him as the #2 if the Jets needed one, but they have plenty of backups.
