It should have 12 teams and we could keep 2 players as long as we want ... just a suggestion .. cuz Players change in a yearly basis .. so keeping a player as long as you want should be reasonable

A keeper league I am in with Mantana Soss has 5 keepers carryover from year to year. No limit on how long you want them...Every year you choose 5 holdovers from last year's roster. This is a nice limit. Allows for teams to build a strong core of players.

I've never known a Yahoo! Keeper league before - will it be self-administered? Or do they have a facility to manage this? Just out of interest?

The post by Steelcurtain was the way I was planning on doing it. 5 holdovers every year.

Yahoo doesn't have a way to manage a keeper league so the keeper league offseason stuff will be done through the site. The first year can be a yahoo draft and the following years can be done through an instant messanger chat room or even on TGG.

Might I make suggestions now based on problems we have in my other keeper league.

There has to be some disadvantage for teams that finish high. Doing an offline draft will allow some flexibility for this.

I propose that the draft order this year be a snake draft typical with fantasy leagues just so all players are distributed fairly. Starting next year (the Keeper phase) the draft order would be set based on final standings from the year before (including playoffs). The Champ would draft last in each round and then downward. This will allow some parity in the league.

The way our current league is setup...The one team has 5 of the absolute best keepers and at worst gets bookend picks every year. His team never gets worse. This was the result of some very poor trades made by owners not even in the league anymore.

Everyone wants a chance to win every year. This will definitely keep the game exciting.

Great idea. I like the idea of keeping every team in it every year.

No problem, I will send out the info by PM in a few days when Yahoo starts up their fantasy baseball. After that, we will try to find the best time to draft. It will probably be some time during a weeknight.

Also, Owners need to be aware going into trades, that teams might be trading younger unproven players for veteran talent in an attempt to "win it all" that year.

We'll need to know the "Veto process" ahead of time so that we're all comfortable with it.

I actually have a pretty good system to take care of trades but I'm not sure how it will work in this league. I run a league with friends and we have a set trading system. After a trade is processed 2 out of 3 people must approve a trade for it to go through. These three people are decided upon by the commishener before the league started. For example, in my league those three people are me and the two other people who have been in the league the longest. The list goes in order of seniority. I don't know how we could determine a list of "commishes" to evaluate trades.

Only problem with that is if any of those owners are involved in the trade itself.

There has to be a better system than what our leage had last year....barely any trades ever went through.

If any of the owners are involved in a trade the next person on the list fills their spot.

We don't have to use it or anything.. just throwing it out there

HOw do we deal with the owners who fail to rejoin the season after the 1st year. Do we drop all his players that he kept? or do we give it to the new owner? If all his players are dropped how will the new owner go about getting his players? I was thinking more like the expansion draft in the NFL were the new owner drafts whatever number players before the actual draft plus he also gets 1st pick. Just a suggestion

I think we should just give it to the new owner and let him deal with the team like he had been there the whole time. He can pick his 5 keepers and the rest will be released for the draft. There will be plenty of people on here who would want to join. We already have a waiting list of 2 people.

Not sure I agree with a new owner getting first pick in each round...You have a dispersal draft to let him/her balance out their roster then they get the draft pick based on last years standings...

Can we have a vote on the rules before we start? I'd like to see what stuff is available in order to be satisfied with the rules we start with for year 1.
New owners should pick where the old owner would be unless it's an expansion team in which they can start in the middle so newbies don't get an advantage by coming into the league.

Thats the way I feel also.

As we get closer to the season I will compile these discussions into a set of rules which we can debate and change if needed.

I agree with you 100%... just not fair to the other owner's if a brand new owner gets the first pick. What if he's replacing a 2nd or 3rd place team, and getting the 1st pick in every round (like you said we'd do for parity, which I like)?

Yahoo! Fantasy Baseball begins Feb. 15, just in case everyone didn't know.
