Roman is someone I've followed since my brother in law is a 49ers fan. Dude is a bum. The 49ers have continued to improve the talent on their offense and they never seem able to make the most of it, and underachieve considerably. The 49ers will likely improve on offense with Roman gone. I wouldn't be too thrilled about that hire.
Ironic that the Bills hire Rex today, on January 12th, the 46th anniversary of the Jets only Super Bowl win in franchise history. Rex's dad Buddy invented the 46 defense, and was also the defensive line coach on that Super Bowl winning squad.
Never mind the fact that this year was the only year since he's been OC the team wasn't in the NFC Championship game.......he's def a bum. He sure did turn Alex Smith's career around and turned a project in Kap into a decent/good NFL starter. He may have his shortcomings like any coach in the NFL but he's def not a bum. As a matter of fact , which NFL fanbase likes there OC anyways? I have yet to find a fanbase that loved their OC.
Please. Tebow never latched on in NE, and is out of the league. Revis is still playing as good as anyone, and is a big part of NE's success. Could possibly end up the difference of winning a Super Bowl. So you are not even close on that analogy. As for Rex, we shall see. Those two games a year against Buff are about to get tougher. Even if their team sucks (very possible, no QB), you know they will be up to play the Jets.
Rex can't hold Belichick's jock strap and he'd be the first to admit it. Rex: more Ws with Brady that's obvious but Belichick if he couldn't win with Geno would find someone else. He even won with Cassel who was a backup at USC and never had a start in college.
We're not dealing in alternate universes here though. I know you're a Rex guy, but stating he's the best HC in the AFCE was just science fiction.
I love Rex as a coach and always will. He really seems to do a great job of keeping everything in-house and he's extremely well respected. It's frustrating to see a coach of this caliber get saddled with less than optimal opportunities. I mean... Bill Belichick inherited a very good NE Patriots team with a newly signed $160MM man Drew Bledsoe with Tom Brady on the bench with a chip on his shoulder. That is a good situation. I'm curious to see how he does in Buffalo. If he can somehow build an offense I think he's got the keys to beating the Patriots in the AFCE which should begin to get easier after this year. There is a lot of talent building in Miami also. The Jets are in a weird situation, I'm not sure what I'd want as a Jets fan - other than someone like Rex without the history. The Patriots "dynasty" or whatever you want to call it is clearly in it's twilight years - this is the time to get something done to establish some AFC E dominance.
We've heard Rex gush and gush about Peyton. Wonder if he's regretting not getting a Denver interview if PM is staying
