The announcers were awful. The main play by play guy just couldn't say anything right. He's like, "iRON (with a hard R) Mike Tyron!" DUDE.
Aside from boxing not being my thing, this was an orchestrated joke/fix and everybody knows it. I even forgot it was on. I guess it will help Tyson with his debts is what it amounts to.
Mike Tyson is currently becoming disgustingly rich on the legal marijuana business, I don't know if he's dripping in debt like some former athletes. But the whole production felt dumb to me and I won't be bothering to help Jake Paul continue to be a rich ADHD kid. Pro sports are all starting to feel fake to me, even though this wasn't what I would call professional. I can't believe any of those fights were sanctioned except for the women, and that one was definitely rigged. I think Serrano lost simply because she was promoted by Paul.
I was only peripherally aware of that. I know he foreclosed on his mansion in Ohio some years back and that he was in it deep when he started doing that one man show whenever that was.
A friend said that to me too about Tyson doing it as a money grab. I don’t think he’s hurting anymore nor does I think he live a lavish lifestyle where he needed all this money. Obviously money played a factor but I think he really wanted to do it and thought he could knock Paul out. But the whole process was probably super nostalgic for him. Training, talking shit, press conference, etc.
I didn't watch that clown show but read the "rave" reviews afterwards. Some people just watched too many Tyson highlights from almost 40 years ago if they thought it was going to be even relatively competitive. Just another joke of a fight to make money, along the lines of Tyson vs. Jones or Mayweather vs. McGregor.
Glad I didn’t stay up and just watched the fights this morning instead. While the Tyson Paul fight was a joke, the rest of the card was very entertaining. Those 2 ladies beat the shit out of each other, but I think Serrano got robbed. 2 minute rounds worked for that. The Barrios Ramos fight was really good, hate that it ended in a draw.
Was the Mike Tyson bare ass shot really needed? Yeah, it was an obvious entertainment nonsense. Jake Paul probably could have knocked Tyson out if he really wanted to. I think they agreed ahead of time to keep it soft. Pretty shitty fight, the women's match before was 1000% better.
