no way in hell if Moreno or Wells is still available you get one of them or my personal favorite Crabtre (?) plus I think Laurenitis is better. but I would say right now the Jets draft needs will be
    WR/RB (one of the two)
    ILB
    T
    CB
after that its pending a few things but the pendings are S, CB, DE(as like a space filler)

Yea but what does that have to do with his physical abilities to play in the NFL?

I mean I agree his production might suffer. That might get him knocked, but personally I think he's got the ability to be a top flight NFL back.

I think if we had a top 5 pick next year...the one guy I really like right now is Michael Crabtree.

Tebow's got some maaaaaajor flaws as of right now...:

    1. Slow release.

    2. Footwork.

    3. Not playing in a pro offense. I think this is really a huge key to a prospects development. He just can't do half the shit he does in the NFL.

    4. Throwing on the run.

He's got alot of development to do at the QB position, and right now I don't see him as a high first round pick.

He's got two years to fix his footwork and release. I don't think he'll be a top 5 or even top 10 pick either, but he should be a first rounder if he shows even more improvement in 2008.

He's been working on his release since he's been at Florida.

Everyone knows he won't be able to run over NFL linebackers, but he will be able to run over corners and safeties. His athleticism will still be there when he's in the NFL.

The spread system really isn't a big deal to most NFL teams: Alex Smith, Joe Flacco, and Ben Roethlisberger were all products of some form of spread offense. It just depends on the quarterback's ability to pick up the new offense. Tebow's definitely smart enough to learn a new offense, but can he play in one?

If he can go to a team where he can sit behind a veteran and learn, he could find success in the NFL. This is weird to think about, but Peyton Manning, Donovan McNabb, Matt Hasselbeck, Jeff Garcia, Jon Kitna, and Marc Bulger are all getting up there in age and their careers should be over in the next 4 to 6 seasons. Prot?g?s are needed.

The o-line at Pitt can be worked with. The biggest problem right now is going to be his maturity and how he deals with losses and set-backs. He had some minor cry baby flashes this past season (end of the Navy game!!!!) but he's comming along. Tony Wise, while not a good coach at the pro level can still give Shady the front five he needs to work with in the college game. He still needs to add on a few pounds but he has the frame to do it without sacrificing his first step.

I'd love for the Jets to target the following positions, in this order, in the next draft:

WR - Cotchery is a great #2 but Coles isn't getting any younger. If we can get a stud to take over at the #1 slot in a few years, that would be great

CB - Unless Lowery really impresses or Miller proves to be awesome, we'll still be searching to find a corner to play next to Revis

RB - Thomas Jones isn't getting any younger and while Leon is a great change-of-pace back we'll need a thumper up the middle

DE - 3-4 Defensive Ends are hardly a dime a dozen, but we need someone to replace Ellis by this time next year

S - Abram Elam is a stopgap measure at best. A heavy hitter or a guy who can just play center field would be great because it would free up Rhodes to blitz

OL - depth is a major problem. Brandon Moore is average at best, and should be easily replaceable

Dude, Tebow's a certified moron. Did you listen to his Heisman Acceptance "speech"?

Florida Students at the UGA/UF game last year said Tebow was totally inept academically, and brings help with him to all his classes to help him take notes.

Unless the RB is a great bargain or a cant miss prospect like Adrian Peterson or Reggie Bush, u shouldnt choose a rb in the 1st especially when rbs are found in late rounds every year.

All college athletes at big schools are given that option. Wouldn't you want someone to take notes for you? He's a smart kid...he was probably nervous during his speech.

He has a 3.7 GPA at Florida...that's pretty good if you ask me.

tim tebow is a really smart kid i saw something where he went with his dad to phillipines with his dad and was help perform surgeries and you just dont do that unless you have some type of smarts he has alot to prove but there will be some dumb ass gm who will take him way to high

and if moreno or laurinitis is available when we pick i think one of them should be the pick

I agree, but I need to see it.

    Problem is, it's still slow.

He's got to get to the safeties and corners firt. And his athleticism will be there, but I doubt it's going to protect him from 11 elite athletes coming at him.

Theres about a million QBs from spread offenses that have busted. Hell, Smith and Flacco haven't shown anything.

I mean look at it right now...Smith is struggling...Vince Young is struggling...

The spread bothers me, what bothers me more is his mechanics and the huge mental adjustment he'd have to make to play a pro style offense.

Agreed again. I actually think that kind of situation would be ideal for Tebow. Theres alot of bad habits and non-NFL lessons learned to erase.

I'll take Stafford over him easy. Few other guys too...

You're right that they're struggling, but the spread offense didn't stop those teams from drafting those players high in the first round. That was my point. Tebow can be a first rounder, regardless of the offense that he plays in...but only if he works on his mechanics and improves as a passer.

The system is only part of the problem. Those guys were fine mechanically (even Young for the most part) and had many good tendencies for a young QB.

My biggest problems with Tebow lie in his terrible and inconsistent mechanics. Thats just a big, hard to fix problem piled on top of a big, hard to fix problem.

I really hope he fixes alotof his flaws this year...or stays for his senior season. I really get the feeling some team will buy the hype and overdraft him, and personally I like the guy enough to hope he gets in a situation where he can succeed.

His major is Family, Youth, and Community Services. Plus football credits.
He got an 890 SAT, I know you will say that he already had his ticket punched but that is not pretty good by any stretch of the imagination.
His speech wasn't that bad, I just listened to it again. He just said "I love being a Gator" 35 times.

They were...circumcisions. I don't know how smart it is to perform circumcisions without being trained. If my doctor told my mom he got an 890 on his SAT, she would have asked for another doctor before letting him come near my newbornhood.

Anyway, I don't think he's that smart but he's a hell of an athletic specimen.
